Re: Cognitive Dissonance - You're a joke

I am not sure what retarted OP is on about and why this thread is even allowed to be there in the first place. Should we all start threads about all the people we get pissed off about??

Anyone who ever had to deal w Cog knows that he is not only a great poker player but also a genuine nice guy. Cog is one of the most decent and less arrogant poker player out there. As for his play, Cog's ROI speaks for itself.

This stuff belongs in the regs thread, but I think it is too good to be locked now. Some of the material in here is pure gold.

He was a good poster but I think we all know it is time.

Also, I have no idea what's going on here. But I'd like to note that my recently completed thesis experiment demonstrated the effects of cognitive dissonance again, as students who were given a salient choice to write an essay arguing for a decrease in financial aid rated the plan better than those who were just told to compete the essay. Interestingly (this word means different things to you and me), after I told two groups a week later that they either had little choice and it was just part of the experiment's requirements, or that they made a choice and the decision was noted, there were no significant changes in attitude, even while subjects self-reported different levels of choice in the 4 different conditions. This supports dissonance as a "at the time of the action" phenomenon - once people convince themselves that the plan wasn't that bad, no more work needs to be done, and the consolation that "you didn't have a choice" falls on deaf ears, even though that keeps people from supporting the plan in the first place.

COGNITIVE DISSONANCE IS NO JOKE.
