1.50$ hyper first hand

Hi 2p2. What is the best play here readless? Check and scout for info or raise? And if raise what size
PokerStars - $1.44+$0.06|10/20 NL (2 max) - Holdem - 2 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

SB: 500.00
Hero (BB): 500.00

SB posts SB 10.00, Hero posts BB 20.00

Pre Flop: (30.00) Hero has A 6

SB calls 10.00, Hero raises to 60.00, fold

Hero wins 40.00

I think just check. If you don't flop and ace it's a difficult hand to play and if you do flop an ace you're unlikely to get paid off as it's such a big part of your range if you raise (if villain is thinking)

At the 1.5$ no villain is thinking. Actually assuming that villain thinks is a huge leak at this stake.

This was the big thing I had to realize to crush the 1.5$ games: villain NEVER thinks.

Dumb animal controlled by instinct = 99% of 1.5$ players , the other 1% is very dumb animal controlled by instinct.

Surely this is just a raise for value as we expect the presumably bad/passive villain will call with worse?

Yeah I can see your point but then how do we play if we miss the flop and are a beginner? Obv cbet any dry flop but vs a non-thinking villain you could be up against anything if flatted (well, sometimes )
As a default I raise limps with A8+ and broadways, a little wider suited

When you have position, reg speed or turbo (I never played hypers) , A8o (could very well be any Axs , Kxs , actually is solid for ATC) and so on: min raise pre , cbet only if you hit top pair or better, half a pot on each street , fold reraises on turn and river.

This strategy NEVER fails.

Sure , you can spice it up , like if villain is tigth stab more flops , if villain is loose cbet more than half a pot , only stack off with 2 pairs+, and so on.... but why bother ? the first paragraph tells you all you need to crush the 1,5$ games.
The bottomline principle is : villain is not thinking = limp/min raise pf , then bet only strong hands , and bet them bigger the nuttier they are.

Re: 1.50$ hyper first hand

Raise limp to 70-80 w such hand bc you want to get more folds pre readless, if villain calls you will take down chips most of flops w cbet, >preflop raise= >+ev
