I'm currently playing anything from $10 - $50 buy ins. Is there a particular coach that I could contact that would make me a crusher at these stakes?

I've had some early success, but not really that confident that I know what I'm doing. I definitely know I'm not playing optimally.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Any book would be horribly outdated and provide little value for beating husngs in 2015.

Will Tipton's books, both volumes 1 and 2 are pretty much timeless books for HUSNGs.

I wouldn't necessarily start there though, they aren't easy reads if you're a newer player/non technical player.

Mersenneary's free ebook is pretty accessible and contains a lot of good practical advice.

I'd go more towards videos (free and pay) if you're on a budget. If you're willing to spend really anything to get good as fast as possible and willing to dedicate yourself and you're already playing $10-50s, then a private coach could be a better option.

I read lot of books and it takes a lot of time and effort to read and analyze all things. I play turbo games and my ROI is 5% over 15 k of games. If you need help I can look your hands and games, try to find leaks and maybe help you to improve game. If you're interested send me pm.

If you are very comfortable with maths and willing to put a lot of work in then Tipton's books are great. Otherwise mers's ebook is excellent value for money

Last night, I first sit a $10 HU table (Bovada). First hand, I'm the BTN with T9o and I raise to 40...villain 3bets to 120 and I call.

Flop is J9x and villain leads out for 240, I raise to 500 and he folds.

2nd hand, villain raises from the BTN and I 3bet with 66 (raise sizes aren't relevant at this point)...he calls.

Flop is Q22 and I lead out, he shoves with KJo and I hold.

2 hands!!! Wish it was always that easy LOL

Last night, I won 2 out of my first 3 matches at $10 buy in; then I went 2 for 2 at $20 buy in...not a bad session. I only ran into 1 tough player ($10 match) and I managed to prevail. One of the easiest players I faced was at a $20 match and that one would fold every time to any bet.

Definitely flat call T9o on that flop, raising is really bad. With 66 flat the 3b pre that deep, raising is a small mistake.

tonight was a different story...played a $10 match and 2 $20 matches and lost all 3. 1 of them I was a little impatient and shoved a flush draw and bricked. The other 2 matches, I was up against tougher than usual villains and (I feel that I) ran pretty terrible.

One of them, if I hit a pair, he had a bigger pair; if I hit 2 pair, he had a set.

Fortunately, I played a full-ring triple up tourney and got it all back...but that too was quite a grind. Actually, we played 6 handed forever. Got down to 5 and I got down to 51 chips and was the BB (blinds were 75/150)...tripled up with a full house. Very next hand I dbled up with AK suited...next hand, 99...next hand 77. That one lap made up for all of the run bad in the HU matches.

Is it weird that I call HU tourneys "matches"? LOL

Do you recommend always flatting 2nd pair on the flop? I feel this was a really good flop for me; it's been my experience that whoever is showing the most aggression is always leading out on the flop (in other words, if I raise pf, I'm almost always going to lead out on just about any flop...and vice versa if villain raises pf, he'll almost always lead out on the flop...even oop).

I was the 3bettor on the 66 hand.

Depends on the specific spot, but almost always it's a call. When you raise there think about how many worse hands are continuing vs you and then compare to how many stronger--you should quickly find that x/r is effectively turning your hand into a bluff. It's a really big mistake in that hand, try to understand the why behind it

You should understand the purpose of each bet or raise, rather than thinking about ill-defined concepts like "showing the most aggression".

As for 66, I mistyped. I meant to say "flat rather than 3b pre this deep"--I definitely saw you were the 3-better and you shouldn't have been

To the guys that recommend Will Tiptons Book, what did you take out of it? How did it help you on the tables? Because i read 75% from the first book so far and maybe i am too stupid, but i took almost nothing out of it. The part about board structure and volatile boards etc. is probably helpful but only if youre a beginner. The rest was just too complicated and not really applicable imo.

I learned a ton from both books and they have been very important for my understanding of poker and my thought process in game. To get the most out of the book you have to study the book. That means reading, doing the exercises, taking notes and reviewing what you have read.

I think chapter 6 in the first book will help you the most at the tables immediately, but the other chapters are great for learning about poker and improving fundamentals.

The second book focuses more on postflop situations.
