Hi everyone,

In the coffeeyay spin & go pack, coffee recommends to shove a lots of hands in SB. Here is some situations where I felt a bit uncomfortable about shoving due to deep reasons. Do you think that's a clear shove? Readless should we min raise or open shove?

Side question: I know I shouldn't be playing only push/fold but let's say I'm, will I lose money in the long run if I do? In HU I'll lose money above 8bbs what about here?

Hand 1:

BTN: 360 (18 bb)
Hero (SB): 640 (32 bb)
BB: 500 (25 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 6 A
BTN folds, Hero raises to 40,

Hand 2:

BTN: 560 (28 bb)
Hero (SB): 480 (24 bb)
BB: 460 (23 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with A 4
BTN folds, Hero raises to 40, BB calls 20

Flop: (80) 6 3 A (2 players)
Hero bets 40, BB folds

and let's say K9o? According to nash it can be a shove and K8o at 18bb?

thanks

Up. Definitely interested in what regs do here. And in general in SB!

My thoughts are that vs certain villains this can be r/c, but usually is a r/f. I think if we prefer jamming because it's 'unexploitable' and we think villain will be 3b jamming very wide over our minr, this doesn't make too much sense since then we can just r/c here.

We should be fine with villains flatting very wide and playing lots of pots here. But if population tendency is to call shoves too wide (most recs feel like they should be gambling more in spins and just play them differently overall) then jamming for value could be fine.

What's are your thoughts?

Personally in early game I min raise A2/A3/A4, because they play little bit better than, A6 for example, postflop. And also, when vilain decide to call wild our shove he'll mainly call Ax, which are better than us (when we have A2 if vilain call any Ax, his Ax will be better).

As you said, some vilains shove wild preflop so this might be a call against some vilains. However, I think that's really hard to know if we should call or not in game (=we're going to make a lot of mistakes). So I prefer shove, sometimes I'll be called by hands like KQ/KJ and I'll be ahead. It avoids me playing postflop OOP (= likely to make mistakes) and that's unexpoitable.

If vilain 3bet a lot i'll min raise very good hands such as AT+ in order to jam vs 3bet, if vilain never 3bet and fold a lot vs min raise, i'll min raise my low Ax to medium Ax.

As stacks become shallower I'll just push any Ace.

These are just my thoughts.

I personally would never jam it. If there was an aggressive opponent in BB who's ISOing a lot I'd limp with the intention of showing over his ISO, + our hand is disguised if we limp, I like that. + people are generally overfolding vs limp stabs, you can expect other opponents to float a lot if you see by his stats that he's not folding to cbets, so I'd happily double/ tripple barrel vs them on a lot of boards. On some boards I'd just give up sometimes.

If I'm not limping vs an aggressive opponent, then I'd raise to 45. I like to make it 45, because my assumption is that people are not so used to that raise size and will play poorer against it. I think I'll get a little more folds raising 45 and will not have to play out of position that much, although it's probably not too big of a difference. At the same time, I think it's ok if they call because most of them are also overfolding to cbets. At least that's how I feel at the 15s level on Stars. If opponent is under around 20bbs, I'll just start minraising vs them.

I'd need a read that they are quite aggressively shoving vs my minraises to call a shove with A4o. I'd probably call happily with A9o, reluctantly with A8o without reads and somewhere around A8/A7s. At the same time I haven't used ICMizer or a program of that kind to try to solve this spot.

K9o i'd mostly just raise to 45 again, I think there's no need to shove it. I think it plays pretty well postflop. Probably wouldn't limp shove it though, because of that reason.

I think if a question like this arises it is important to get better postflop, it seems to me that wanting to shove this hand pre most likely indicates being uncomfortable playing it post. I think people will make bigger mistakes post (and so more chips can be made) than pre when this hand is shoved (it is most likely profitable to shove it) and that is the reason why just raising/ limp shoving this hand is better in my opinion.

Happy to hear other thoughts.

Hey,

I open 3hSB 2,5bb till 15 bb eff. stack.

But it depends on the opponent. If he is a fish, you can OR here, becuase he rarely will 3bet you. And also cbet will work.

between 10-15 eff. stack. change to minraise, and shove against regs (because they will push a lot)
You can add limp/trap hands vs regs like: A6+

under 10bb I change to shove, and limp/trap with suited Ax.

So, usually OR/Cbet will the best, because BB will calls strong hands in position, but not defends enough on the flop.
