Thinly veiled "I lived in Vegas" brag
In definition you are right ofcourse. But in my opinion casino's (with reasonable amount of cash) aren't gambling either.

cool post

As far as professionalism goes I am good with not doing any 'extra-curicular gambling', but fail on nearly every other front (like going on tilt far too easily)

I think I would rate my self as

n/a
C
D
A

Who cares what this guy's thought of the year is?? From the OP he sounds like a busto degen that had one lucky $40k month and thinks he is the man. He considers himself a "professional" because he traveled a few places. You wanna know my thought of the year Rumnchess??? GTFO!!!

Truly appreciate this thread. Self grading:

Natural talent: A-
Work Ethic: C+ (don't study that much, mainly because I don't want to fix what's not broken. I am winning around 75% of my HU matches [I play HU tournaments, not cash], though I am sure I can still improve)
Professionalism: C+ (go on tilt, actually play at lower stakes than my roll allows, I could pay more attention to not losing as much extra money, because i constantly take from my roll to pay for things)
Life Balance: A+ I don't play as much poker as I could because I am in Grad school, I eat well, lift, have great friends, and many girls auditioning to be my gf

I mean if Phil Ivey was posting his thought of the year, yea, of course I would listen and respect his opinion. But when some busto $1/$2 donk thinks he has poker and life all figured out, all I can say is GTFO!!!!

PaperWalls, I really respect you as a poster and I hope you respect me as well. Making such comments, like go die, does no good for either of us. Keep such hateful comments to yourself imo.

Are you really to ignorant to see that these advices is valuable? Yes hes a degen 4sho, but me as the rest of the posters in this thread, acknowledge these advices to be both legit, and good for any poker player.

And i will not respect you in any way, before you show your self as a valuable asset to this community. (Shoot me a pm when u do)

Never do I claim to have either poker or life all figured out. Quite the contrary. One of the points of this thread was to talk about the things I'm doing poorly and the areas in which I need to improve. As I say in the introduction, I've fallen well short of my goals in poker.

One of the joys and challenges of both poker and life is that you never really "figure it all out", but hopefully as you go along you learn from your mistakes and make improvements. For me personally I've made a lot of improvements in my life in the last five years and I hope to continue these for the rest of my life. I also aim to do the same with my poker career for as long as I'm playing.

It's ironic that you tell Paperwalls that making comments like "go die" does no good and to keep hateful comments to himself, when your entire diatribe was basically hateful.

yeah, it was actually so ironic i had to do a doubletake cause i thought paperwalls' post was krumb @ you again, then i thought krumb's response with go die was you @ krumb, but that seemed harsh for you so i reread.

Extremely solid post, +1 rnc

1- Natural Talent B (the jurys out) I'll rate myself as a solid B because I have to, not because I want to. I'm a pretty intelligent person despite my struggles , I'm good at a wide array of skills and tend to learn new concepts quickly.
2. Work Ethic C+, I'm pretty crazy I'll have stretches of apathy where I can't play more than a few SNGs and then I'll go degen and play all night out of the blue. I could definitely stand to work on this because Work Ethic = Higher Volume = More Experience = More Skill = More Houry/TP. Yes, this needs to be worked on.
3. Professionalism: B+ I have good BR management, I'm a moving up/down masta and have never busted. Granted I've grinded the 6s when I've needed to. I could stand to be less willing to intake drugs while playing poker (alcohol/pot) because to think that it makes me better would conflict with just about every acendotal account I can recall.
4. Life Balance & Confidence: A- this is my only strength I think I try to keep a balanced life socially, physically and intellectually. Exercise and nutrition are huge factors in my life and I believe being engaged in competitive activities besides poker can bring a lot of clarity to one's life.
