Re: ** Official Spin and Go's Discussion Thread **

Ask yourself why top prizes in MTTs are so big and who gets them most often. The reasoning is the same here.

As for the sound, I'm pretty sure there's some wav file responsible for it in the installation folder, try to find it and replace it by silence. (I'll try this too in a bit, am busy now.)

Edit: strangely enough, I hear no spinning sound at all, though I do hear all other beta sounds.

Is it <PS folder>\snd\snd15.wav by any chance?

Do you have a link to your simulations? Or better yet, do you have some sort of program I can use to run simulations myself?

What percentage of winning players are winning money after 10 K games? That's more important than how they are running compared to EV. What about after 100 K games?

I don't know the answer, but you could try EasyStreet if PT4 does not have the functionality.

Thanks for the help! Does HEM2 track Spin and Gos? Can I make a report of them? I've never used HEM2 reports only the HUD so I'm really lost.

Looks like about 80% will be in profit after 10k games. (And FWIW I meant to write 3.6% ROI before, not 3.9%.)

No matter how good you are you wont get a top spin prizepool more than once every 20,000 games on average. Its going to take a very long time for any skill edge to show.

Why not a 60/30/10 or 65/25/10 distribution for the top 3 prize tiers. Variance wont be so high and more players have bankroll boosts to spend in the games. Once deal making is allowed then the prizes will be split a lot of the time anyway but with that distribution more may want to just play.

Patience is part of being 'good', no matter if you like it or not.

No one forces you to play exclusively Spin & Gos or MTTs, you may play 'normal' games where your edge shows up fast and take limited Spin & Go shots at the same time.

I think this is awesome and will be a huge success, despite the regs complaining.

Yes just mailed them. You can request a ban for Spin & Go's only without restricting other sngs or mtt's.
Got myself a 1 year ban, though I hope never to play these devilish games again. Ran terrible + 2x multiplier for what seemed 98% of the time made me tilt quite hard.

I think I am down over 50 buyins in like 75 games lol. On the one hand I find it pretty sad that PS has introduced these. They are clearly way too addictive this is how gambling addicts are born.

How many games do we need to play in order to get an idea of our win rate? Within 1 percentage or so. Someone smarter than me please tell me!

Also what do we think is the maximum achievable win rate in the $15s and $30s for a reg?

What kind of EV ROI do you think is achievable over an infinite sample?

what about making these turbo format instead of hyper turbo?…. more likely the better poker player would win & less luck involved.

The average tourney life is about 6 minutes (the tourney itself lasts for 8 minutes, but of course the player can be out earlier in the 3rd place), and sitting in a new one is lightning fast, so I think one can play 10 tourneys an hour per table grid slot, and 75-80 games an hour are achievable if 8-tabling.

The problem is that hardly anyone can 8-table these games (a big part of the play is HU) without a noticeable decline in the decision quality. Being slower than an average SnG grinder, I struggle even to 5-table these.

A simple calculation shows that SNE requires at least 6-tabling, that's if one has enough time and energy to play 210 hours a month. Alternatives are 7/8/9-tabling 180/160/140 hours a month or of course mixing other games in.

Re: ** Official Spin and Go's Discussion Thread **

Hmm, the 6-minute tourney life figure is based on my iPoker sample, on slower software but with 2-minute blind levels. The latter factor leads to shorter maximum duration of a game, but the former factor leads to later bustouts in 3rd because fewer hands are played per minute. They should pretty much even out imo.

I have only 33 games at Stars + FTP so far, with the average tourney life being also 6 minutes.

Let me instruct you on how to look it up for yourself in PT4 (the problem with the built-in 'Real Hours Tournament' stat is that it accounts for multitabling, e.g. if you play at 2 tables at once for 6 minutes each, it will show 0.10 hours = 6 minutes in the summary, not 0.20 hours = 12 minutes; so things will get messy as you play at different numbers of tables at different times).

Tutorial on measuring the average tournament life in PT4

1. Go to Configure -> Statistics and find a tournament player stat 'Real Hours Tournament'.

2. Duplicate it (the resulting stat will be named 'Real Hours Tournament (Copy)' but you can rename it).

3. Go to the 'Description' tab and replace the summary type 'Expression' by 'Same as Format'.

4. Click 'Save' and 'OK'.

5. In the 'Results' tab of 'View Stats', right-click 'Configure' inside the report and include your new stat into it.

6. When the report reappears, look at the aggregate number of hours displayed in the summary line of your new stat, multiply it by 60 and divide by the number of tourneys to get the average tourney life in minutes.

I'm looking forward to seeing your Spin & Go tourney life figures.

Re: ** Official Spin and Go's Discussion Thread **

Oops, when I was making the illustrative screenshots to the tutorial, I forgot to change the summary type in the exemplary 'copy' stat (the one I had used before is 'Real Hours Tournament (No Account for Multitabling), which is also seen in screenshot #3).

The correct aggregate amount of hours played is 2.95, hence my average tourney life is 2.95*60/32 ~ 5.5 minutes per Spin & Go.

One more factor in favour of the speed of the Stars version I've forgot to mention is the lower waiting time at the start and the lower slot spinning time. The iPoker version waits for 20 seconds before the wheel of fortune starts spinning, and the spin itself takes 10 seconds.
