I don't get this attitude. When I was starting out I kind of hoping everyone would be solid, because beating them would mean I was actually kind of decent at poker. I remember being so excited the first time I played a guy who most of his SBs, cbet a lot, and had a fold button. I was like "omg a good player, i gotta beat him!!!"

How does raising every button get countered by a player just "slowplaying eventually?"

That's only effective if you raise every button, bet every flop, bet every turn, then bet the river again!

Run over weak players by raising every button and betting every flop. Most weak players will fold a tremendous amount of the time, but when they do call, DONT CONTINUE TO BARREL WRECKLESSLY.

That's a start. Read Filthy's HH review. If you want to put in minimal effort and focus and not get emotional, you'll beat low stakes husngs. Games are not tough, you're making them tough in your own mind by just having an expectation and not paying attention to the details of the match, the opponent, his tendencies, how to counter his play, etc. If you pay attention to what matters and don't get emotional, it'll be almost impossible to lose in the low stakes husngs. And if you beat those, you'll likely have the tools and confidence to beat the mid stakes ones.

Come back when you get up to the higher levels and you have more legitimate concerns, but this is purely self damage, not a result of the toughness of the games or unfairness of the RNG. I don't intend to be mean whatsoever, but if you focus on the right things you will have success very quickly.

I think OP broke his/her keyboard from pressing F5 wayyy too many times. This person is too emotional to ever be good at a game like poker. Maybe a girl, but either way OP definitely like men. LOL!!!!

Seriously OP, I don't think you are being honest with yourself about self improvement. Hell, lets just assume for sake of conversation that you make good plays and are really getting sucked out on. It seems to me, as evidence from this very thread that you can't control your emotions and go ape **** any time something doesn't go your way. Posters don't agree with you? Flame the **** out of them... You see where I'm going with this? Even if you are a perfect poker player in terms of making plays, you still suck at TILT CONTROL.

My advice would be the following:
-Look back at hands and find where you got sucked out, see how you played after the suckout
-Search for some tilt control threads on this site
-Don't play when your on the rag, ldo

lol at you spazzing out at everyone criticizing you. you came in here like its breaking ****ing news that poker is hard and your sad and depressed that you aren't up for it. if it wasn't hard and filled with struggles every ****ing A student in high school would be making thousands(as if there aren't enough of those pricks already). ok im sorry for you i guess, but if everyone made a thread when they realized poker is tough or they are sad because they aren't winning tons ..... well you can imagine.

yeah we get it your on a bad downswing it happens, im sure a lot of people in this thread are on some kind of downswing(myself included). but to be honest no one cares and defiantly dont want to hear about it. just don't pay attention to it. how much your up or down for the month/year means absolutely nothing during the month/year as long as your rolled for the stakes your playing and feel you can honestly win at the level.

so many people on this board focus way to much on how much there up today or week or during a session or what there adjusted ev or all in ev or all this useless ****. when they could be going over all hands on a certain vill, asking other people if they have notes on him, doing a search for him, dissecting his stats or even watching him play. and then they say oooo i work so hard and break even poor me well quit wasting time bitching/being emo and do more work. if whatever your doing now isn't working your not doing enough plain and simple.

lol sorry for the rant stuff like this has been building up on(in?) me for awhile.

edit: theres also like 50 things you can do away from the tables that would help immensely.

My comeback is being fueled by people who are perfectly happy to 3bet and call a shove at 15/30 for full stacks with K8o.

Oh wait..

Uh...

I mean... um..

yeah, you're right, there's no money left in heads up, and any serious players should avoid it at all costs IMO.

**** HEADS UP. THE PLAYERS ARE ALL TOO GOOD!

hu cash regs have improved a lot the past few months and the ratio of fish to bumhunting regs is only getting worse. I've only ever played regs that I know have leaks that I can exploit, as well as any fish i can get but lately both of those have gotten markedly worse.

I'm working on my game (theory and emotional control) with the aim of getting to the point of being able to exploit more regs.

I can do this with some confidence because:

1. I have money saved up
2. I have an excellent degree and could get a decent career (the critical point being so long as I don't pursue poker too long as I don't want a 5 year gap on my CV)
3. Number 2. gives me some belief that I have the intellectual capability, as it was a tough science degree.

I worry about the future everyday.

Barewire and ICMoney both over great advice in this thread. I can't believe so many people are offering such constructive advice to someone who does nothing but throw cheap shots and attack a community that could actually help him improve. But I guess that just speaks to how awesome our HUNL community is. (Uh oh I'm starting to sound holier than thou)

Seriously, online poker is still very beatable (and I'm saying that in the midst of a 50kish downswing). It's all about having the right mentality when you play and absorbing as much information as possible (both from this forum and from your opponent's play).

I'm gonna write a long thread at some point about why I've been failing at online poker lately but I can promise you it's not a result of a lack of fish

This. I'm bad and it's working for me. Plus Rush is really addictive somehow. It's the crack of poker.
