Hi,

So I am abit confused about something.

Looking at this chart I am in a SNG:

Blinds 50/100.

I have 1200 chips. my opponent has 600 chips.

I have Q8o in the BB. My opponent shoves his button.

Is this a call/fold?

According to chart I need 9.7 BB to call? I have 12 BBs? Abit confused with this?

Thanks appreciate any responses...

nash push/fold is about "effective" stacks. Your opponent only have 600 chips, which in turn is 6bb, this is the stack at risk. This is what you look for.

Q8o is a call up to 9.7bb according to your chart, thus a fistpumpcall at 6bb.

@Touchofevil:

Thank you.

So as the CALLER when it says I need 9.7 BB to call , does that mean :

That I must have 9.7 BB or does that mean my opponent must have 9.7 BB. I assume its ME that must have 9.7 BB to call? Sorry, just got it today trying to understand it correcty.

Also,

I had K6o on button earlier. Blinds 50/100. 1000 chips each.

I shoved . Guy called me with A7. I lost.

Is there perhaps room to min raise that instead of shove? Or is shove still the correct play given above scenario? I felt like I didn't need to bust in that spot there?

Thanks for your time.

as ToE said, it's about the 'effective' stack.
if you have 20bb and your opponent has 9.7bb then the effective stack is 9.7bb, because each player can only put in a maximum of 9.7bb. It doesn't matter which player has the bigger or smaller stack, it only matters what the smallest stack size is.

These are the nash charts for HU play - http://www.holdemresources.net/hune

No doctorflush, no new charts. The charts represent the solving of a simplified game where SB can only shove or fold (no limping), therefore applying them blindly to actual HUSNGs (where you can limp) is not going to be very helpful, you need to consider other factors as well.

At what level are you using Nash equilibrium charts
In game under 10bb or more like 15-18bb
And games like hyper turbo just nash or sage game from the start

From the SB, probably start to think about playing shove or fold poker around 7bb. You'll still shove some hands above 7bb, even above 10bb, but you'll also be limping and even minraising sometimes, so Nash becomes irrelevant (it's based on solving a game where you can only shove or fold in the small blind).

From the BB, you don't get to choose, if your opponent is going all in or folding only at 100bb, then you're playing call or fold OOP automatically. If your opponent is minraising at 8bb, he's not playing shove or fold, your Nash chart isn't all that relevant (you have to consider potential fold equity in that case too).

Ignore SAGE. Nash, it really depends on what the population tendencies are. A few years back I know the average opponent folded too much OOP, so at 6 or 7bb when you were playing shove or fold only, you'd want to shove wider from the small blind to exploit that. If opponents are mostly using Nash now, then using Nash in the SB 7bb or lower would be a good strategy.
