I am new to the husng world and curious if anybody looks up opponents (sharkscope etc..)? I've alternated between looking and not looking and at this point in my progress, I don't know that it makes a difference. I could see looking someone up who is playing cash.....

Just curious,

Zach

Looking up is not a bad thing in general. Unless you are experienced enough, you shouldn´t base too many decisions on what you find out looking up someone. Just because somebody has a negative winrate it does not mean that he is not capable of valuebetting or semi-bluffing. If somebody lost $500 playing $20s, but played 4k games already, he might not be a fish but a rakeback grinder. Obv, don´t expect him to pwn you with his soul-reads but be careful.

On Playerscope you can see what mix of games somebody played today or yesterday or when was the last time he played a tournament at all. This gives you an idea about his general poker-approach (All-Gamble, HEADUP ONLY, MTTs, 6max) etc.

i ussualy look up the players before i play.
but in some cases it can make me nervos when i know i have a solid winning player in front of me.
sometimes i forget to look them up. and i do this when i analyze my hands.
then iam supa happy when i see i have crush a winning player so bad without knowing he was solid before.
like mr g said it can fire in both directions.
you expect your player is bad and play weak against him
or you scared about that winning reg so you overlook his leaks
or you know you have a winning player and you concentrate more on finding leaks.
depends on your mindset
