I watched this hand and talked to paul about it right after. I just don't see the guy bluffing here (although its always going to be a possibility) very often. I don't see him c/r with an ace or two pair either. I say the bottom of his range here is a set or higher, although K10 and 910 fit his line. Also, I see a busted FD playing this hand differently, and if he did catch the A of his FD on the river, just flat c/c or possibly lead for value.

As played, I agree with the fold. You only need to call here and be right about 1 in 3 times I believe for this to be break even, but you also have to trust your reads.

As it turns out, 2nd place for a cool 35k not a bad days work imo

uggg , my dam time bank was gone this was tilting the **** outta me all night...well 9-10 is nuts on turn not always saying he has this, was also trying to hide the strenth of my hand pretty much...idk tho, im actually glad i didnt fire 3 streets cause i think id have to call the river if i did.. but it was just brutal in some spots with no time bank, u basically have to snap think the whole time (at least thats how i felt)....

I just joined the rail as this hand played out and I have no clue how this guy played before (he has a cool graph who stays at the bottom for about 2200 Games and then he runs hot in MTTs 130K, 60K and now this one - I even think his 60K cash was at the same tourney as THUger made his huge cash..).

If he wasn't out of line, I think I would def. rule out all 2 pair hands (against a some players, I would probably put some rivered twopairs in his range). 9Ts makes sense and KT too. Im not sure I could rule out some insane busted flushdrawbluff, but just a small % of the time.

But as I saw the hand, I felt you wheren't THAT strong either, so I would have considered a riverbluff in his shoes myself... so I think I would have called there in the heat of the match - and I think it would have been very spewy, because what LiarsDice said makes a lot of sense.

You actually asked this guy if he would tell you his hand after the tourney and he agreed. I'm pretty curious...

[QUOTE=sejje;13981143]FWIW I called this douchebag out in like his first 10 posts.

He had sorta become okay lately (maybe because I wasn't in strat threads), but I agree he got pretty out of line here, probably inadvertently at first, but then it just snowballed THOAC-style.

Don't compare him to me, do you realize how big of an insult that is (despite your fail attempt to lesson the blow with that stupid heart)?

thanks mj, if ur playing like 8 to 12 of them its actually not boring at all(thats why live is sucha borefest to me).. but as u start busting a few theres always the ones that are left where u can win some good cash so it pretty much always stays interesting to me. i have been playing a ton of them but will never stray away from hu, next month i will put alot more hu action in..

a downswing is a down occuring due to variance only.
the max. downswing size depends on your ability (ROI).
check out husng.com for possible downswings...needa click a bit
to find out the greatest one.

i just know at a super decent ROI you still can experience a downswing
of bout 30BIs, only just by variance.

AND i know - most downswing are not only variance, but due to:
- over estimation of ability (ROI)
- bad or marginal play

soooo, i guess almost no one will have a downswing which is based exclusively on variance.

for me this means:
- try to accept variance (...i am still trying hard..and have my difficulties with it)
- learn more and faster out of different sources (game review, coaching, vids, strategy posts etc.)
- do only single tabling
- do table selection
- play your best game (do not play when u r drunk, tired etc.)
- play slower and very concentrated

last points will all make you a better player and the chance of holding up the swing down is increasing.

i am just 30BIs down ...and i am struggeling..smile..but i know there was a huge amount of bad luck..but still i try to do things mentioned above to survive it as fast as possible.

gl 2 u all

i asked that question last night and a few yanks started getting defensive about their own personal situation (typical) and offensive about me (im doing just fine ppl).
..tyty for a constructive answer.

Fwiw, i fully agree with what you said. Too many people on this site blame "variance". My understanding of it from my own POV is primarily as you said it: too much 'bad or marginal play'.

Tyty for your answer

I've been break even over a period of 2 weeks (500 games) and although at some point during that "downswing", i felt like crying.. suck out after suck out, i fully accept full responsibility for those bad results.

I wasn't getting unlucky over 500 games.

So i stepped up my game and analysed/improved.
