So just getting ready to do some sweet American poker grinding, thought I'd make a post asking if anything cool/interesting/devastating has happened recently.

Reading the internet poker thread and I am surprised of how many US poker players are suportive of DOJ and FBI actions. I don't mean this as a rascist comment in anyways but : you guys are really screwed up over there....

Man I feel bad for all the US players The sickest part to me is the fact that it all happened in ~24hrs. I wish you all gl and hope for the best. Hopefully most of you will be able to find a long term solution and will be able to continue living on the life of a poker player.

wow. I can't believe you care about me in this time of chaos. You really are a piece of **** Xereles. I really hope you go broke.

Seriously, what part of "I don't enjoy playing online, so I don't do it", don't you understand.

Why the **** would I do something I don't enjoy?

Why the **** would you bring this up now?

Anyone that has spoken to me on aim/skype knows I'm a competent player and the only weakness I have is volume (and anger management to an extent).

Real classy bringing this up now. Idiot.

‘Hot spots’ part of D.C. officials’ plan to allow Internet-based gambling in city
By Justin Jouvenal and and Michael Laris, Wednesday, April 13, 10:03 PM

D.C. officials said they are planning to set up 20 to 30 online gambling “hot spots” in hotels, bars, clubs and other venues across the city by around Sept. 1, marking a major step in a bid to turn the nation’s capital into a haven for Texas hold ’em and other potentially lucrative Internet-based games.

So we (US players) can still play at Carbon, Cake, Bodog, etc? If so, its not quite the end of the world yet. The number of players will skyrocket in the coming weeks. Obviously the software isn't going to be the same as PS and FTP, but maybe they will improve with the added rake they'll be receiving. It seems unlikely that they will be shutdown by the DOJ anytime in the near future. Am I missing something?

this is the opposite of what i think, and if they do get shut down, smaller/lesser known sites are more likely to just disappear w/ the money. so i don't see how playing in the US is an option right now.

Another option to Queenstown, NZ, is my hometown of Melbourne Australia. 2 hour flight to QT for snowboarding etc, same deal with no taxes (get Aussie citizenship etc maybe), Crown casino biggest poker cas in southern hemisphere with ~6 tournament series per year.

GL to all US players and esp my HU reg friends, I'm thinking of you and hope you can figure something out.

A lot of Americans **** their pants if someone with darker skin than them looks at them. They want a police state, because their definition of freedom is the freedom FROM decisions, not the freedom to decide.

I don't get it either, except my life is actually affected on an everyday basis by the sheep. Whoever posted the link to escapeartist.com in the "what next?" thread -- I thank you, I may be using it soon. One I get the resources, at least. If only I had a few thousand lying around somewhere to help make the move...

oh wait

Damn.. I feel so sad even though I am not american. Today is a sad day not just for husng but also for the whole poker community. I wish u guys the best and be strong. If u are smart enough to win in poker I am sure u will be smart enough to live without poker as well.
