I come from playing 1 table 9 man SNGs all the way to 180's. I played these for years. I find HUSNG more mentally draining then other forms of poker I have played. Way more! 8 hours of 9 man SNG's no prob. After about 5 regular speed HUSNG's I have noticed a serious decline in my play.

My question is how many HU SNG's can you play in a row before your play declines?

Do you need to play one or two to feel in the grove or do you start strong out of the gate?

This is as much LC as much as a serious discussion.

you just get used to it; then you can play for hours on end.

I usually need 1-2 games to get in the groove.

Depends on villains also. After playing fish 3+ games in a row I often cant play my A-game vs decent players without a break. Especially after rematching the same fish many games in a row.

My focus doesn't really detoriate the more games i play, since it starts out so low in the first place.

It also depends on how you feel (tired, hungry, i just want to play a couple of games because i need my daily dose and then do something else...) when you start playing.

if i think i dont have edge, or i can have a bigger edge, i snap decline, if i feel like my edge is reasonably big, then i never decline i will literally sit here 36 hours if villain wants to keep playing

A huge leak I am struggling with is that after loosing to a player I feel I have an edge on (Due to variance or even worse - a mistake by me) I insta tilt and cannot play my A-game without a long break.

It's the fact that you can crush a person for an entire match but quickly loose due to a mistake or some unlucky card falling. really trying to work on that.

I also came to HUSNGs after doing 9mans for a relatively long time. I noticed the difference immediately... not only is there more going on, but it's more stressful, and more personal. I'm guessing I play more hands 2 tabling HUSNGs in 10 minutes than I do 12 tabling 9mans for a few hours. I can't back that statement up though.

The big difference is that in HU adjusting to your opponent is way more important than in other forms of poker. In 9-man sngs u can get away with auto-piloting for hours but that wont work in HUsngs

Its really important to take a lot of breaks, also trie to never auto-pilot but keep asking yourself why u take the descisons u take.

I am NOT an iron man, but I am pretty sure I can play more than 10 since that can take 10 minutes not infrequently.

I can play for a few hours before I get too tired to play my A game. A big thing is too make losing or winning non emotional. I find that to be the biggest hurdle for how long a person can play their A game.

that's the key, fsho. but then you breakeven for 10,000 games, and you begin to feel sure you don't know what you're doing, and hate yourself

you have to be really confident in your game, then get in a lot of volume, then you can be unemotional, i think (less emotional*)

Well some winning players have said that the competitive drive and emotion related to winning and winning is what makes them motivated to improve and play well...

At least I hope that's true because I am at times slave to it, even after millions of hands.

I probably should have gone into more depth about what I meant. You are correct, the drive and confidence that comes with a win is huge and you should play with that swagger of being confident. What I meant was when you lose or get a bad beat or can't seem to break past a invisible barrier, you need to be positive, not emotionless. A huge thing with people that are successful not just in poker but every other profession you can think of, they all agree that confidence is key. As long as you keep a positive attitude and have the will to learn more then you will crush any limit.
