Hello everyone, I was toying with an idea for the forum that could be interesting.

I'm going to be setting up a coaching tree for one session, where every participant gives out 1 hour of coaching to 2 players playing lower stakes, and receives 1 hour of coaching by a regular playing stakes higher than his (hers?).

The tree would look like :

PrimordialAA (our very own)
(1 player 330$+)
(2 players 100$-220$)
(4 players 55$-110$)
(8 players 22$-33$)
(16 players in the micro stakes)

Or, for an even better picture :

PrimordialAA
|
| | <------------- the tree
| | | |
| | | | | | | |
|| || |||| || | || ||

To be clear, I'm sorry to disappoint but Primo will only be coaching one person, not the 31 participants

Obviously the idea is that everyone benefits from this setup, i.e that all the players (apart from the micro stakes group, who can be as terrible as they desire) can beat the level underneath them, and are genuinely interested in teaching. The actual coaching can be whatever players agree upon (hand history reviews, leak finder videos, ghosting, training matches....).

I think the potential benefits of this experiment are numerous – it can help develop and expand the 2+2 HUSNG community, allow people to try out being coaches/students in a friendly context and of course hopefully contribute to everyone getting a little better at poker.

How to apply :

Please send me a PM containing the following information, and anything else you deem relevant :

Where you want to be in the tree :
Online screenname(s) (preferably unblocked on Sharkscope) :
Preferred HUSNG format :
Preferred language(s) :

The official tree will be posted on Monday the 27th of September (i.e you have a week to make yourself known).

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Disclaimer :

There are quite a few logistics to this experiment, with players specializing in different formats on different sites, comfortable in different languages, etc. but I think that with a little bit of time I should be able to pull off satisfactory pairings. Signing up early and being active members of the community are factors that I will consider but will in no way guarantee a spot, so lurkers are more than welcome to PM me as well, as this is also about integrating new people.

Depending on the pool of players signing up, it might be difficult to select profiles matching the theoretical tree exactly, and we might find ourselves in a situation where the «coach» is only slightly, if at all, superior as a player to the «student»; especially in the higher branches of the tree. The coaching will then have less of a master/disciple dynamic but should remain valuable.

Hopefully it's clear that if you think this is simply a way of getting a free hour of coaching and are going to be sloppy and unprofessional with your assigned students, this thread is not for you. If you have any complaints about the way things are going (or have to drop out for whatever reason), no need to clog this thread just shoot me a quick PM and I'll try to work things out for everyone.

Oh, and no NBI regs will be tolerated.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Feel free to comment/discuss, any ideas for improvement are welcome.

Jeff

I'd be in for 100-220 pending the player below Primo

So how does the $330 player that Primo will be coaching get picked if there are a few people who want to be coached? Just draw a name or Primo just decides? Also are HH reviews good? I wouldn't mind doing a HH review type of thing but not really interested in a live session.

Haha, you can't back out now without insulting the $330 player.

You're boxed in Mers, boxed in!

Obviously if Primo has a preference he's the boss, but other factors are how early the said player send an application, how much he's made fun of my strat posts, how compatible he is with the branch under him in terms of preferred formats etc. It could end up being random, I'm sorry in advance for people who are going to be left out...

Good advertisement for Primo, who last time I checked, loses like 40k a month (so will probably lose around 480k in the next year).

thanks everyone, this b*tch is filling up quickly!

Pour information, on a deux joueurs francophones pour coacher des joueurs de microstakes (bon, un québecquois je ne sais pas si ça compte vraiment comme francophone...), alors n'hésitez pas, maitres du frenglish.
