First hand of the match against a reg. Blinds are 10/20 with 1500 stacks

I open on the SB for 40 with 6 5
BB calls

Flop(80) 7 4 K
BB checks
I bet 40
BB raises to 120
I call

Turn(320) 7 4 K 8
BB bets 250

Would you ever consider calling with this hand instead of raising?

I usually would trap with sets and raise with the str8 here, but I decided to call since I thought he might spazz on many rivers possibly. If I do call and a club comes I'll be in a yucky spot. Would you call a river push if a club came? I'm thinking yes.

Reg has only check/raised me on flop when deep about 4.3% of the time

are there any (semi-)bluffs that you would shove the turn with?

Possibly some club draws as a bluff if I was to. His flop check-raise frequency was so low though so it is unlikely I'd bluff shove here.

Trapping with str8s is dangerous, but this may be a good spot for it. However, if he shuts down on rivers where he missed though, then he is exploiting me and not the other way around.

Would snap call river if a club comes, im more worried if the board pairs tbh, what is he raising flop with that makes a club a dangerous card? Pretty much only Kx of clubs, maaaaybe choosing to bluff with Ax of clubs as a bluff with a bit of equity, because of how dry the board is. I think I'd put him on 2pair or a set here,

Reraise turn I don't think he's folding anything he's repping OTT calling turn folds out bluffs which might also give up on river, but gets any 2 pair or set (or potentially bdfds to continue while you're ahead before you get outdrawn/a scare card comes

I'd just raise turn and get it in while you're both happy about it. 4.3% check-raise is insanely low and probably almost exclusively two pairs and sets on a dry flop like this.

The board can get seriously more scary on the river, which can make either of you not willing to play for stacks. The flush not so much but board pairing is bad for you and 5/6 is really bad for villain.

Good runout to just stick it in though.

villain check-raises 4.3% of the time and you're thinking of slowplaying your hand? Just raise turn/shove river.
