Busted the $1,100
I could've took a big chip lead early but the way hand played out I made a big lay down for my tournament life...
25/100/200 we open to 550 from mid position with T
9
and get 2 callers. All 3 of us have like 30k (150bb) to start the hand. Flop A
4
5
and SB checks. We bet 1100 the cutoff calls and SB check/raises to 5k we call and I'm surprised to see the cutoff call too. Turn J
and SB checks. We check and cutoff shoves like 24k all in. The SB snap calls and its on me. My read was almost certain that SB had a flush but with me having T
9
on A
4
5
flop there aren't many combinations of flushes that I beat which would call the preflop raise. Logically the only flush combinations which call preflop that I'm beating are 67 or 78 leaving many more flush combinations which call preflop that beat me like KQ, KJ, QJ, J8 etc...so after much self deliberation I decide to lay it down. The cutoff has A
5
and SB shows 7
8
for the smaller flush. My read that he had a flush was right but he happened to have one of the few flushes that I beat. Very frustrating spot but with this being a freeze-out and still having 125bb behind early in the tournament I thought it was the best decision considering I strongly felt it was a better chance that he had a bigger flush.
Few hours later blinds 75/250/500 and I'm down to 10k from hands just not going my way. I missed flops, missed draws, bluffs didn't get thru and got down to 10k (20bb) when this hand goes down...action folds to cutoff who opens to 1k the button 3bets to 3k and I'm in the SB with AK and 4bet rip last 10k. The cutoff folds. The button calls with 55 and we don't improve.
