I played the EPT London £300 + £30 PLO Double Chance yesterday and finished 5th of 85. Very pleased about how I played as I was super card dead for the first 5 levels and had to just hang in there.
I was between 1/2 and 2/3rds the average at all points from 70 players down to the last 5 and had to use some high level bluff and repping plays at various points to give myself enough chips to navigate into the last 10 or 15 places.
Then on the FT still very short I used my excellent ICM/laddering skills to get into the top 5. 11th paid £620 and 5th £1925 so a substantial difference. I did briefly get into semi-contention for 1st or 2nd when down to 5 by reaching 45% of the average.
I set out to play more aggressively from the get go with my first chance (first stack of 6000 chips) as I think this is generally the best strategy in a double chance as you can play tighter with the 2nd chance if you bust but I never had any hands to be aggressive with so from very early I was eyeing a sneaky under the radar way of getting through the field.
I score myself 9.5 out of 10 because I made one semi-questionable peel in the early levels and because I could have been a tiny bit sharper observing players for tells 100% of the time but it was quite a draining tournament that lasted 12 hours so I may have taken the foot off the pedal a fraction in the last 2 hours regarding live tell concentration although it didn't hurt me as I had done all the profiling by then about how each opponent played and their strengths and weaknesses.
I was initially planning to play the £1K EPT London PLO this Thursday if I cashed for £1K or more in the £300 but before I had played yesterday I took a business booking for Thursday for the company I run, which was guaranteed income with no variance!
I will quite likely play the £300 + £30 PLO8 EPT Deepstack Turbo on Friday night. You won't see cashing in my tournament record for PLO8 apart from within P.R.O.P.S. tournaments which were a Pot Limit round of each: Padooki, Razz, PLO8, PLO and SuperStud.
But I am good at PLO8. I bubbled a GUKPT event having played very well so I think if I play a few more PLO8 comps (they aren't that common to even exist in a festival) that I will start to get some good cashes in them.

*** I multi tabled Tournaments 73 & 74 but because I went deep in the PLO and because of the layout of the room I was only able to see two hands in the NLHE event in the first 10 levels. When busting the PLO I joined the NLHE having been blinded down to only 4500 chips of my original 9500 starting stack (1/4 of the average) but managed to get up to 57000 before busting.
Tournaments 2, 7 and 105 were freerolls qualified for by playing many hours of PLO cash games at The International. I have adjusted the entry fees to reflect the number of extra £1 voluntary contributions that I made to pots whilst playing PLO and Dealers Choice cash games. The £1 contributions (for pots over £25) was one of the conditions of the cash race freeroll promotion.
August 2011 GSOP Festival Notes:
I played attrociously in 3 comps (One £60 satellite and two £100 GSOPS) but well and extremely well in 3 comps (Another £60 satellite and the £200 and £500 GSOPs). However, I ran badly in the 3 that I played well in. I was a 58/42 favourite to be chip leader going into day two of the £500. Also got unlucky and busted with QQ < A8 AIP (having pwned my opponent pre by tricking him) just before the end of day 1 of the £200. So whilst the bare results look poor I was a real contender in the two biggest comps of the festival.
