Simple spot pre with 13bb? Simple spot pre with 13bb?

9 handed, live tourney. Early stages so no icm.
utg+1 raises to 2.5bb
Co calls

Hero is in bb (13bb) with 44

Me and few friends discussed this spot and they said its a shove or fold, yet i thought it was best/fine to call. Opinions?
and whats a good shoving range in this spot with little fold equity.

Call getting 4.3-1 immediate odds, assuming no ante.

Call is better against UTG raising, shove is better against late position raising.
When you hit against UTG you have good implied odds vs his strong range.
That's not true against LP, you can shove to collect dead money way more often since villain will have a looser range.
Here, they both have a strong range, so... call and hit

Calling here is a disaster. Fold > shove > call.
AQo+, 99+... is ultranit imo vs standard ranges.

Too short for a Stop n Go? Call 2.5, then assuming V CBs 60% (3BB), H c/jams for about 8BB more. Obviously be stronger if H had about 17BBs pre.

I don't like a shove here against utg raise, def would shove on a later position 2.5 bb raise but def not here. Fold imo. Find a better spot.

I guess some could argue Call and folding if you don't hit a set do to the odds you are getting. I just don't like a shove at all or any post flop play without a 4 hitting.

I like how opinions on this hand are so definitive, yet so different!
I don't see how calling pre with these kind of odds (and very simple to play hand) is a disaster.
I don't like shoving because with the positions of the players already in the hand, we are getting at least one call and hoping for a flip. But with no icm pressure and a little dead money lying around, I guess it's a possibility. I just don't like to put my tournament on the line with a flip at best, my 12BB are still good enough to get some nice fold equity later.
Fold is reasonable, but seems like just abandoning value. So I don't like it much more than shoving.
So in the end, I would call, hope for a 4, and let go of the hand like 90% of the time if we don't hit. (there are some runouts and lack of action that could get us to make a move profitably)

I think call and fold are pretty close, and both are better options than shoving.
With no info on the players my default shoving range would probably be 88+AJs+

Calling 1.5bbs with a 13bbs stack is EV---------

why when when we are getting 4.3-1 direct odds and flopping a set 7:1

we can potentially triple up here w implied odds

To me this is a simple call, 1.5BB more and last to act????. no need to get fancy with 13BBs and 44s. Fold is the 2nd best play IMO in hopes to catch better hands or play in position in one more round or so. Shoving is suicidal if you get called.

Call > Fold > Jam IMO. We can Jam if we think UTG+1 is too aggro and CO is too tight.

Sorry guys. I didn't read about CO call. I thought UTG raised x2.5 and everybody folded. What are you doing in this case?

One thing we are missing is utg +1 stats and stack compared to bbs to make this decision right?
