101 players left 93 cash $55K to winner, $200-300 min cash 3000/6000 blinds. Villian (230 K and very tight) opens to 17 K from button. Hero has QQ in bb and 145 K. Does anyone not shove here ? What is your calling range if you are the villian ?
Shove. Nearing the bubble makes it an even easier shove.
Calling range is a bit difficult with limited information. Playing tight makes his calling range more narrow I guess, but it could also mean his opening range is relatively wide. Considering this, along with his 230k stack and opportunity to use it to start taking pots uncontested as the bubble approaches, I'd imagine he would open perhaps KJ+ A8+ 66+, and call 10 10+ AQ+? Also would depend on his perception of your 3bet range.
After thread responses like these, Im starting to question when I 3bet shove as opposed to just 3bet small. I know there are multiple factors to consider, but what would the concensus be regarding what our stack size has to be to NOT 3bet small...like, for example, would having a 16 bb stack mean no small 3bets? Lets subtract AA situations and just assume standard strong hands warranting 3bet action.
Against a btn raise it should be a small 3b/c. Against an ep open I probably just ship it bc no one really gives you credit for having a 3b/f range and that makes it too obv we have a big hand.
Good question dudeimbetter...i was thinking the same. 23 bbs against 2.9 bb raise with QQ seemed standard at first. I have thought out different scenarios with different raise sizes. Surely a shove is correct with 16 bbs. There were antes also. I should have put that in op
