$3.50 MTT
We are midstakes, blinds $700/$1400 ante $175
Average stack is $40.000
I have $36.000 (about 26BB) Button have $48.000

All fold to Button, who raises to $2400
SB fold, pot is now $6475
I call the extra $1400 with my 8 Q

Flop comes: 9 J Q

I am first to act and check. Button bet $3937
Pot is now $11.812
I call

Turn comes: 9

I check, button bet $7874

I have $29.000 left. My tournament is on risk. What shall i do?? And what do you think button have?

I have some info about Button. He have been loose, just like the hole table.
And he did some crazy all in moves earlier. Seems like ppl are trying to steal blinds at this moment, and i have been successful with protecting mine.

I will give you his hand, just wonder if i did the correct handling.

1) I'm not in love with the defend, even though he's wide. Q8o is just not very good, and when we flop top pair we still may be in trouble.
2) On the flop, you have good equity against other Qs - Ts and 8s are both possible outs. We're somewhat awkward stack size for a raise on the flop though. We raise to 11,000 and now we have a third of our stack in the pot. I think this may be a good spot to overshove.
3) As played, fold feels too weak. I'm not sure he's calling worse to a shove. I think I just call, but it puts us in a tough spot when he triple barrels the river on a blank.

BTW - on the "hole table" - what sort of hole is it? - big, small, in the middle?

Hole table = 9 players

Ok, when he bet $7874 on the turn, i got all in with rest of my stack ($29.000)

He called me and showed KK, the river came: 8d and i was out of the tournament.
Now after much thinking i can see that was a bad play, but in the moment when i did it i was trying to represent trip nines or a straight.

And i didnt really put him on a hand, i just thought he was trying to bluff me out of the hand. Bad play again.

So, the conclusion? I should first of all let go of my BB? I agree with you that Q8 is not very good, and even that he is wide, i should have waited for a better spot.

But when i first called and flopped top pair with a bad kicker and a straight draw(a bad one) you think i should only call turn and see what he would have done on the river?
Then he prob. puts me all in and i would have had a huge desision.

All fine up till the turn where you can either fold or call turn/x/f river.

And this is why we don't play weak hands with bad implied odds out of position.

You have very limited equity against KQ, KK, QT, flopped sets and two pair, but that's a really small part of his range if we think he's button raising say ~50% and c-betting say 80%. He has a lot more draws, pairs, and random BS in his range.

The more I look at it, the more I like shove on flop (even if it is an overshove). We may get called down by draws or combos. Even against AQ we have 7 outs twice.

I dont know if Im wrong but I dont think a lot of people is going to bluff that turn, you are only folding a J or an unlikely lower pair, I do like more the overshove in the flop than calling t n r than raising the turn...I fold the turn
