Live fullring MTT buyin $400 for example.

In midstages, say 500/1000/100 stack 40000
40bbs I am wondering how to construct my opening ranges.

For example on CO is it better to open raise a SC like 67s or is KTo better ?

I think either of those are fine from the CO, but it really depends on what the stack sizes are behind you and how aggressive people are behind you.

Edit: And I don't think this is in the right forum

I think is way to loose
Based on what you made this ranges? (stacks behind, opp etc.?)
I´m playing 30/20 over big sample and i´m not openin stuff like 32s, J6s, K8o ...unless blinds are really bad, obv i don´t have you postflop skills, but still

Given the responses to the range I have posted, I feel I should weigh in somemore thoughts.

Firstly, I'd like to add that I would never make a suggestion that I wouldn't do myself. I take pride in what I post. This forum has been a great resource for me as a poker player.

Secondly, on to the actual range itself. I know this CO open range is very wide, maybe wider than some people would think about opening their buttons. However, with an ante, it's really hard to make a terrible open unless you know you're going to get 3bet a ton. It's worth remembering that, and as poker players we should be looking to find spots that are +ev. If you pass up spots that are +ev, you allow someone else to gain.

Picture an empty graph, the y axis represents the +ev of the open and the x axis represents the % of hands we open. If we draw a line/curve representing which hands are +ev to open, the line/curve would probably pass the x axis somewhere between the top 35-50% of hands for the CO. When it does pass the x axis, the ev of the play is approximately 0. This range I posted was, in my opinion the hands that are just above that 0+ev. They are the entry points into an open range, some might not be winning that much, but edges accumulate in poker and if it's something you can do, do it would be my advice.

Where that line crosses, is up to us to judge and if you know the BB is going to flat a lot, or the BTN/SB will 3bet liberally, then sure tighten things up. You should be pushing people around up until the point you can't get away with it.

+1. I'm a naturally tight player but am trying to learn how to open up in the right places more. So this was a great response and well appreciated.

When from CO, your opening range will depend most of the time of the players in the blinds, their stacks, the reads you have on them etc... you could even have a limping range here.

It's a ****in $400 live mtt, rly doubt blinds would 3b light enough. So we get to realise equity often enough. And then postflop edge can be massive. Greg's range seems fine, I would fold 32s j6s but apart from that the range is reasonable
