Live final table w/ 2nd pair and double gutter

I was just in the final 6 (of 115) at the Aria in a daily $125 buy in. The two on my left were both pros who have been traveling the circuit and back in Vegas for the bracelet events. I was on the button in this hand with apx. 135k in chips and the blinds were 3/6k.

Background info: I had been very aggresive on the final table. It had worked out well except probably 6 hands earlier where a guy pushed with second pair and ended up getting runner runner flush on my top two pair. He had already folded out of the hand though. The big blind had been at my table since the final 50 down to this point. When I first came to his table, he was being super super aggresive way overbetting the turn or river to put pressure on shorter stacks. He doubled me up and lost 2 other huge pots to me which really helped me get to this point. He had been very aggressive on flops when he had a good hand, which paid off since he had overbluffed so many bad hands and shown. I hadn't seen him get too out of hand with nothing, but he would overpressure when he had a big draw. He had seen me push in two times in a row with queens and ak suited just hands before this too. Once we got to 6 players, both him and his other pro friend in the small blind complimented my play at that point and he had said "we are having dinner together after this tourney."

I was on the button with jq off suit and it was folded. I did what had become my standard raise at this level to 14k. He called in the bb, heads up, with about 250k. The flop comes down A108 rainbow. He checked and I checked back, which I had done against him letting him hang himself.

The turn came a J and also brought a flush draw. He led out 10k, I raised to 26k, and he thought a minute before saying "Maybe we won't be going to dinner together tonight." and his buddy start laughing. He then raised to 60k.

What do you we put him on here and what should our move be? I'll state what my read was and what happened after some input.

Why are you raising the turn?

Just fold now, you could already to drawing to a chop and I would doubt he does this as a bluff very often at all.

Re: Live final table w/ 2nd pair and double gutter

bet flop, just flat turn.

i think if hes aggro he would jam (or 3b) KQ/AJ/88/TT/maybe AT on your BTN raise, so his value range is something like A8,JT,T8s,Q9s,97s,maybe Q9o.you have about 23% against that range and river will be tough to play even if you hit. just fold the turn as played imo. even if you exclude 97s and t8s from his defending range pre your hand isnt doing too well - has he been defending his BB a lot, even with these stacksizes?

although you mentioned he pressured people with draws, i dont think he leads very small when you checked back flop and 3bets your raise with a flushdraw. i think he would just bet bigger most of the time. and i doubt that he gets that fancy with complete air, once again dont see him baby betting/3betting like this without a value hand.

this turn action is exactly why you should never ever raise with this type of hand in this spot. you might have the best hand sometimes, but prob chase away his air with a raise anyway and you often have outs if behind, but might get put in a tough spot like this. you have both showdown value and equity against better made hands, but both arent premium like TP+NFD would be. tbh both are quite marginal, esp given the fact that a made str8 is already possible.

Re: Live final table w/ 2nd pair and double gutter

I def should have cbet this. Though I believe he would have floated me with nearly his entire range.

Lets say I cbet and then I bet 22k on the turn and he bumps it up to 60k, does this become an autofold or a jam?

Also, what if he checks the turn and we lead to something like 18k and he jams it up to 60k? Seems like a difficult spot no matter what happens here.

I guess without the cbet, his range is so much harder to define and I'm leaving myself in the dark on the turn.

Re: Live final table w/ 2nd pair and double gutter

i like the flop check. the spr is under 4 even assuming no ante and i would rather shove over a turn bet than call off otf but either is fine imo. as played, call turn.

as to your question above, if you cbet and he calls, the spr will be about 1.5 so he will just shove over a turn bet and it is an easy call.
