Chip AVG was 26.2k, I had 14,400. Playing rather tight. Blinds 200-400. I'm OTB, folded to me with 99, raise to 2k. BB(had like 22k) raises to 5k. BB was a younger AGGRO kid. I went all in and he tanked. He ended up calling with Ac10c. Rivered the A, GG me....

Ya just unlucky 99s are strong in this spot not sure what the dynamic was or how the bb was playing there's just no information to go off of but this seems like a get in just ul

Agree that 4bet shoving has to be profitable. Calling off ATcc is pretty horrible unless there's some significant history to suggest both player ranges are wide open.

Another option is to flat the 3bet and gii non-A flops, but as played 5xíng pre you've set up a perfect 4bjam size, so just rip it.

5x pre is not standard btw

open/jamming 99 from the button for 36 BBs against an agg player looks standard enough to me.

Opening to 5x is not so standard.

Funny how he had to tank before calling your shove.

This is what i was thinking

Im assuming he justified calling by how often he had been 3betting? (Right or wrong justification...just saying)

Opening 5x on the button is pretty terrible. No idea why you're doing this, especially with a hand as strong as 99 that you want to induce action with from the blinds. 4b/jamming this spot is as standard as it gets.

Why in the world would you want to open jam 36bbs on the button against an aggressive player?? Our hand is basically the nuts when we get to open the pot on the button, and it may as well be aces against an aggressive player. Don't open/jam, don't 5x, standard 2 to 2.5x open. With a hand this strong and in this position at the table, we want to be inducing action from our opponents as much as possible. Anything else is just beyond spewy/bad.

I'm not advocating an open jam. Think of my notation like you would type out a check-call line (x/c).
