You’re playing a $30,000 Guaranteed Knockout tournament, and you’re dealt pocket 9’s in the Big Blind sitting on a 16 Big Blind stack. You’re 20 spots away from a min cash and each Knockout awards a $25 bounty. A player in the Hijack goes all in for around 9 Big Blinds, and the player in the Small Blind who’s been playing pretty straight forward since you joined the table, isolation shoves for 25 Big Blinds. What’s your play here, and do the bounties play into your reads on the players?
20 spots away from the money bubble the $25 bounty chip doesn't come much into play. I assume that person shoving with 9 BB in that spot is very wide and includes all smaller pocket pairs as well as hands against which we are a coin flip (J-10+). The iso shove that has us covered is still risking >1/3 of his stack and I would not figure that the bounty would factor into the call. The iso re-shove suggests that villain #2 wants to play heads up against the small stack (and bounty) but does not want to build a big pot. But that same logic would apply without the bounty in play, so on balance I would not give the bounty great weight in my thinking.
If sb has been playing straightforward i doubt we are in very good shape with 9s
