23 or so players left. I have 120,000 in chips with blinds at 1,000-2,000 with 500 ante.

8 Handed.

I'm second to act and look down at two red 99 and call 2,000.

Folds to the button who is an older lady with a tight image with around the same stack size who calls the 2,000.

Both the blinds also call and we see a flop 4 handed.

Flop comes: 3 5 7

I check, button checks and both blinds check.

Turn: 9

I make it 10,000. Button raises to 35,000. Both blinds fold.

What to do????

I'm curious how other players would play the rest of the hand.

Ive been playing a few pots but nothing out of line. ABC type poker.

Depends on her stack size, and how she has played.

Since you didnt raise pre, and didnt bet on the flop, you really only have that to go on.

Is she the type of player that would over play two pair? How about top pair and a flush draw? Would she make that bet with ony a flush draw?

She isn't likely to check a flopped straight or a set in position with that board on the flop, so you would have to put her specifically on 6 8 in order to fold.

Dependent on stack sizes, I would likely call and see the river, but closely watch her reaction:

Paired board --You win (unless she has quads and didnt bet the flop with a set)
Club--does her bet and reaction equal someone who has a flush? Would she have raised you on the turn with a flush draw? Not likely she has 3 5 of clubs and checked the flop in position, so if its a flush draw it has to be a non two-pair flush draw---is her play consistent with that?

Blank--How big is the bet? Is she the kind of player that wold bluff at the river if she missed? Is she the kind of player that would value bet a straight or go all in?

Have to watch how she reacts and bets and see if its consistent with the range you put her on.

I pushed all in. Put her on a set of 55 or 77.

Wanted to get it all in before the river in case it scares her off calling.

She shows 64 of clubs.

River is a brick....out I go.

I couldn't believe she had that hand. She played one hand in the last hour and didn't see her showing up with that hand.

I know I should have raised pre flop and she probably folds....still feel like I got coolered a bit.

I can't argue....I raise pre she mostly folds.

If I bet the flop she most likely just flats...and all the turn who knows.

This hand is an total abortion and you blew it on every street imo..

Ill give you I misplayed it pre flop....but the hand played itself post.

When you ship the turn you're folding out all her worse hands and getting action from all her better ones.

She doesn't have a smaller set, like ever. The only hand the is really sketchy (46) can check the flop because almost every turn isn't a scare card with the flop nuts.

As played, I would have been very suspect that I was losing on the turn and just called, basically praying the board pairs or she slows down with some goofy ass hand she wanted to C/R the flop with.

And what about the flop... limp limp limp limp check check check check..

What was your plan? C/R for value??

Looking back, the best play was to call the turn and like you said see what happens with the river card.

I just don't know if I could have found a fold with top set.

I will disagree with you tho that she can't ever have a set of 77 or 55 here...any chance that she plays those to hands the same way?

NO.

She bets those hands on the flop, always.

The pot had 4 limpers holding god knows and all value hands (many worse than sets) are going to try to get value/fold out threats or "protect" on this flop.

Pre-flop limp with 99 almost begs for a bad beat. SB and BB are easily in this hand on 4-6 or 6-8 and on any pair of clubs. Your check on the flop leaves the pot light so that your 10,000 bet after you hit your set is still not really enough to scare away somebody with 5xcc, but a bigger bet would be overkill based on pot size so you scare away the 53 and 57 and 79 hands that you would like to keep around.

Bet on the flop and she flats, does that slow you down? Maybe it slows her down (she no longer has the nuts after the 9 hits) and at least you get to see the river before having to make the all in decision.

As played, against tight player who limped on button and then shoved when you bet the pot on the turn -- it just reeks. I'm not a good enough player to lay down the set in that spot (you still have 10 outs), but it makes sense to fold.

Raise pre. As played call raise and check fold river if u dont improve.

Bet flop. Yes there some bad turn cards but many of cards >9 aren't so bad.
So bet flop and reevaluate ott.

She probably checks back a set otf too.

If she is pretty and you feel like there's chance Id just fold to save her company, otherwise call, make boat and tell her to f**k herself.
