Don't limp pre, raise or fold (probably fold at this stack size, though table dependent).
As played, not sure it really makes a lot of difference. After you flop trips at your stack size you're probably looking to get this in unless it's some horrible run out. Probably slightly bigger turn to set up river jam.
I agree as well with the limping comments. It is a really tough spot when he raises the river but we are never getting away from trip Jacks with 27bb. Well played besides the limp
Yeah, you want to be coming in for raises and not limps pre flop, OP. Ditch limping hands. Our goal in tournament poker is to win as many pots as possible, and by raising we give ourselves an immediate chance to do that. That said, I would actually fold QJo pre flop in this position and look to open it up in MP instead.
Anyway, you came here to discuss a hand of poker, so I will comment on post flop but the big lesson to take here is that you shouldn't be limping pre flop.
I like the flop check given pre flop. We want to be checking our entire range here to the pre flop raiser. As played, when the turn checks through we definitely want to start betting the turn for value. The river being an A is kind of weird. Now it means that we definitely can't bet a 9, and our river bet becomes a lot more polarised. But by choosing such a small sizing! you make life really easy for them to call when the times you could be bluffing in this spot! We want to size it up here with QJ and that way we will get more value from worse and more fold equity with our bluffs.
Tough to get away from this hand on the river with only 20BB's left. Not sure what hands he's taking this line with that we beat. AK, AQ? Is he really going to raise those on the river on a paired board. JTs maybe? Seems like if he had KK,QQ he bets the flop and isn't raising the river so other than a bluff I'm not sure we beat a lot here but at the same time its trips and we don't have a huge stack here. ]ts early where I am so maybe I'm not thinking this thru all the way...
