Getting back into mtts and probably made a mistake here. $85 tourney at a local casino, early. Hero has around $22k, villain about $30k.

Blinds: $75/150, hero in MP, villain directly to my left.

Folds to hero and Hero dealt AcAh raises to $450. Villain flats, all others fold. Pot 1125.

Flop Q 10 4 with two diamonds.

Hero bets $500. Villain raises to $3k. Hero calls. Pot now $4125

Turn: 6s. Hero check. Villain bets $6k. Hero thinks hen calls. Pot now $16125

River: 2h. Hero checks, villain jams for more tHan heros stack.

Hero tanks. Don't have much info on villain. Only about 10 hands in. I hate to get so involved in a pot this early. I usually avoid this but again, I'm just getting back into MTTs. My thoughts are that a lot of draws miss here, straight and flush. Also, AQ is beat but I doubt he fires that much with AQ. His range definitely has 44 and 1010 in it, maybe Q10? 1010 makes a lot of sense.

Any thoughts? Thanks! And I'm posting on mobile so sorrybif the formatting sucks

I would look to use a larger flop size here. 500 on such a drawy board is too small.

As played, this is interesting. OP, think about the hands you want your opponent to be holding here, how does AhAc affect that? Would it be better to have this hand or KdKs?

Thanks for the response. Normally I bet a little more than half pot when I cbet but a lot of the stuff I've read/listened to lately is recommending a smaller cbet. Looking back though, that's usually suggested when there are more players to the flop so I agree, I should have fired something closer to a little more than half.

I like you're thinking about the KK too now that you mention it. AQ is really in his range and my AA blocks a lot of that so KK would be better. I suppose KQ is a possibility but AQ seems more likely, especially with the aggressive betting.

As stated, I'm just getting back into the game and getting comfortable. I hate spots like this, especially early in a tourney with a relatively weak field because I know that there will be much easier spots. AA OOP facing an aggressive better is just tough. Generally early, I avoid situations that are going to be tricky so typically here I proceed cautiously.

He doesn't play AQ like that, unless he's a fish. Holding your non-diamond aces is way better than holding KdKx in this spot, because you don't block missed flushes and the biggest draw he could have in this spot (KdJd)

Board: QdTd4s
Equity Win Tie
MP2 56.53% 56.40% 0.14% { AhAc }
MP3 43.47% 43.33% 0.14% { TT, 44, AQs, KTs+, QTs, J9s, AdJd, Ad9d, Kd9d, Qd9d, Ad8d, Kd8d, Jd8d, 9d8d, Ad7d, 8d7d, Ad6d, 7d6d, Ad5d, 6d5d, Ad4d, Ad3d, Ad2d, AQo, QTo, J9o }

This is the flop raising range that I gave villain - this is quite wide though and there's a lot of stuff that you could take out depending on the villain.

A lot of this stuff could reasonable triple barrel. So by the river I took out some of villain's holdings and gave him this range:

Board: QdTd4s6s2h
Equity Win Tie
MP2 68.09% 68.09% 0.00% { AhAc }
MP3 31.91% 31.91% 0.00% { TT, 44, QTs, J9s, AdJd, Ad9d, Kd9d, Qd9d, Ad8d, Kd8d, Jd8d, 9d8d, Ad7d, 8d7d, Ad6d, 7d6d, Ad5d, 6d5d, Ad4d, Ad3d, Ad2d, QTo, J9o }

If you believe that villain could be this aggro, this looks like a call as all the draws missed.
