Re: Foxwoods 10k $120

I'm assuming we're in the money already and want to finish top 5? Also how many times have we shoved prior to this out of how many hands at this table?

Any A sounds right. Kx suited, Q8s+, KJ+, suited connectors down to 98s. PP's >= 55.

I know they say any PP and any suited connectors but I find patience in these FW tourneys to be vastly underrated. I get called down light eventually based on image. Looser range if this is the first or second time you are shoving. The above range if you have shoved a few times recently.

Thanks guys. Yeah we're in the money and want top 5. My imagine is pretty solid. Went all-in 2 times at this table. Table wasn't tight but wasn't loose by any means. SB and BTN were the only thinking players. The rest were your regular live rec tourney player.

Super wide shove here! Your M = 2.4 and your the BB next hand. Objectively you can shove anything and be =EV on the math. If you want to move up on money maybe fold the worst 25% of the range.

Any Ax, Kx, Qx, Jx, Tx, 22+, and suited one gappers 57s types

I'd shove top 70% here, really don't have time to wait for better.

Re: Foxwoods 10k $120

Since I'm not familiar with Foxwoods daily tournaments, I'm curious if they typically play down to 1 player or if final table chops are the norm. I know that at my local casinos (primarily Delaware Park) chops are common for tournaments with buy-ins in the $100-150 range since there is so little play left at this stage of the tourney. If that is the case, I always factor in what I refer to as "Chop Equity" when making a decision about my shove range.

If the tourney is likely to chop with 6-10 players, I would reduce the shove range to probably the top 40-50% of hands UTG with bigger ranges in position. If you need to get to the top 5, then yes, I'd say top 70% is a decent shove range.

I'm going to start another thread to discuss this "Chop Equity" idea since I think its interesting and I haven't seen it discussed for a while...
