Hey guys. I am currently kinda deep in a tournament that is a real big deal. I'll be starting the day with 30bbs and 243 players left.
I am a cash game player for a living so tournaments isn't my strong side. So I was wondering if any of you know where to find some information regarding flatting and 3betting ranges in MTTs, all from 10 to 40bb stacks? IP and OOP.

My first tought would be that SCs go down in value as we get shallower, high card hands instead get better. Not much flatting going on in early position if we face a raise? Since SQZ-all ins are good spots for our (mostly short) opponents after us. And that as a counter, could let us open pretty wide early position?

Postflop I assume that since we are so shallow, if you get a piece of the board you most often dont let go

Or do you have any other basic pointers that could help me out? Much appreciated

As opposed to online play where stack sizes are so important to 3 bet ranges, in live play position is much more important. Also in live play people tend to flat much more vs a 3 bet, which is why position is important.

Basically you want to be 3 betting in position and not try to play out of position. Flatting is fine with 30+bbs with some hands, but you have to be aware around the 20bb stack to not be flatting a lot as you're too shallow and need to find spots to gain chips.

You can 3 bet or flat SC's with 30bb's IP, but try not to do it very often as this will dwindle your stack pretty quick. 20-30 bbs I avoid SC's unless they are broadway cards.

Less than 20bbs look for spots to GII, fold a lot of hands, don't flat unless you want to trap with AA-KK, other than that you're just capping yourself which is the problem with flatting too much.

I can go on, but I hope this gives you an idea. GL

Just watch some free videos on youtube to have an idea how to play the game. The focus should be what kind of opponent do you play, the positions, stacks, buble factor , fear factor, ICM on the final table. Also be carefull with the raises. Cash game players usually raise a little bit more than they are supposed to raise.
