-opp was playing 20/14 over 50 hands
-this was near the FT also I believe making it that much worse
-how shallow would we need to be to make a x/shove good?
-I will have some semi bluffs here that I want to x/r but this seems way too thin

Any more shallow than this and you would have to push or fold. Infact the call out of the BB is already questionable.

As played on a flop this dry I just flat, shoving only folds worst hands

flatting pre is better than shoving otf (or at least you should flat more often than you check-shove). If there was a FD onboard then check-shove is likely best.

Though I don't think check-shoving like you did is horrible at 21 BBs effective (it's likely still +EV). One way or the other you should be getting it in (unless maybe an A or K peels), so you should be going broke regardless of your flop action. You'd need a pretty solid read on villain to do something like c/c flop c/f turn.

Your range is unbalanced if the only hands you think you should check-raise here are semi-bluffs.

IMO you played it fine, although not the only way, but were unlucky. Preflop is marginal. You have to go with top pair. You also had outs OTF.

    defend is optional but ok
c/c flop. what better hands are folding the c/jam? what worse hands are calling? c/c and eval turn.
