Is calling here w/ J10s acceptable ?

100$ live turboish style tournament

Blinds 300 / 600 w/ 100 ante

Folds around to guy in mid-late position raise 2.2k-2.4k
Fold to me next to BTN w/ J10s ... Contemplated a call, but folded on overbet

BB called (really big donky)

Implied odds are there I would think as it is safe to assume the BB calls there most of time.

Thinking more about it many bet big like that w/ low PPs, but that was also the first preflop raise I saw that guy make. Do you call regardless to whether you think the BB is calling ? Call only if you feel another caller ? Fold automatically since J10s is not very strong ?

Flop ended up giving me a flush/gutshot straight, and the BB shipped first to act with middle/top pair holding K8 (lol)... Raiser folded... I would have obvsiouly called the donk knowing how loose he is w/ ship like that.

Just not sure you want to call a big raise like that when your not deepstacked, and in a turbo. On the flip side you have to take those chances in tournaments especially turbo.

Any thoughts ? Thanks!

We need the stacks of all involved. If the opener is really wide it's more of a fold

Unsure about the way this is phrased. Are you on the BTN or next to the BTN in the CO?

In the CO here I would fold unless I had so many chips 2.4k didn't matter. On the BTN I would call only with > 50k chips if raiser was somewhat predictable/passive post flop. With like >75k and a bead on the raiser i would call OTB.

Can't look at results as a guide. If you missed the flop you probably wouldn't be posting this...

3bet or fold. hard to 3bet such a big open, but if thats players standard open and is opening a lot, its ok i think. but i like fold more. gl

don't look at results of the flop. this is a pretty marginal spot, if both deep and he's opening alot, you could 3b. but we don't know stack sizes?

Stacksizes are very relevant here, but against wider open this could be called with shorter stack as well if blinds are unlikely to squeeze wide. Playing in position one should win most postflop pots vs. wide openrange... I play very soft tournaments with possibly very similar field where this is good idea even with 20k stack.

In most livegames I would recommend flat+ postflop owning over small 3-bet, because villains tend to flat most 3-bets and then there is less room to play postflop.

Against tight openrange playing TJs as a drawing hand (never bluffing postflop without draw) would need 40k stacks at least (a bit less if players after are very unlikely to raise and likely to call).

Tend to think raiser is strong with 4xBB open, but deprends in read. Would usually fold, maybe flat to big open. In general would usually flat or 3b JTs on button, but depends on players, situation, reads, stack size and so on.

We never got stack sizes so it's hard to tell what's right here. A bit confused by the bolded part. If you are both short here (which is likely due to referenced turbo structure), a flat is pretty awful imo.

Re: Is calling here w/ J10s acceptable ?

OP says he's not deepstacked, so this is never a flat.
