Pretty sure it doesn't matter what we should be doing here in a vacuum since IF we decide to raise instead of jam, it should be to raise/fold (except in some very specific circumstances, but not here). Why is it even important trying to figure out what to do in every situation that you didn't have a plan for, and possibly already made a mistake in? It's like 3-betting a whole bunch and then deciding what you should do vs. 4-bets all the time; sure you could do that, but it's a huge waste of energy since maybe you just shouldn't have 3-bet in a bunch of those spots, so trying to figure out how to deal with 4-bets in spots you should've never 3-bet, or should've 3-bet intending to call, is pretty useless.

So the practical answer here is to call, since your decision to raise here instead of shove should be because you decided that raise/calling is more profitable. The theoretical answer is... it doesn't matter. We should pretty much never be in a spot where we raise/decided for no reason and have no reads on the shover to make it clear whether it's a call or fold.

This thread basically comes down to me disagreeing with this quote vs. most people who agree with it. This is a simple stove spot. Hero should've posted this from villains perspective and asked what he should do with A10s,AJo,KQo,KJs, 66-99 against MP1 open.

Seems about right though, why would you r/f AJ here when jamming is almost certainly more +EV? R/f other stuff that isn't profitable to jam if you think r/f is going to be profitable.

By opening, we get 2 stacks to a shove a range we dominate where they would fold if we shove. We can also safely fold vs the other big stacks if we're confident they're not going to be wide.

Shoving is obviously profitable as we're not going to get called that often. Basically since they're shoving range is tighter than their calling range if we shove, it allows us to fold when we're dominated and preserve tourney life by opening.

It's like if 2 people shoved behind, then it's obvious fold but then people would say shove pre to avoid something that is very unlikely to happen.

One last thought and I'm done with the hand.

For raise/folding to not be ideal, it's either because at this stage of the tourney you'd rather take a slight gamble in attempt to build a stack vs valuing your tourney life or because he's shoving wide enough for it to be a call.

the argument of shoving would've been profitable to begin with, might as well call now as it's the same result is not sound.
