$60 live MTT tourney here in the Phoenix Area.

Blinds are 400-800. 40 peeps left and tourney pays top 10.

I'm in the BB with pocket Fives ($12,100). One limper in middle position and the SB raises to $2K (Don't have a lot of info on the SB since I just got moved to this table about 7 hands before). I shove all-in. Limper folds and SB calls (he has me covered). Thoughts?

Thanks

Flatting for 1200 more seems better. You can triple here with a great flop and it's worth the investment.

Shoving short stacks with small pairs is profitable when there's loads of fold equity. (nash short stack shoving charts prove this.) but without lots of fold equity, and you have none* here, it's always** an ugly flip/worse, never** flip/better.

*approximately
**almost

I'd probably just fold and save my 15BB for a better spot than this.

UTG limper is 90% likely to be a weak-passive type who just limp-calls pre. sure, you'll get a few limp-jams here and there, but the price is fine even if we call and chuck away 1200 on those rare occasions.

given the above assumption about UTG, we're getting 4.5 to 1 on a call and putting 10% of our stack in with most reasonable set mining odds against two opponents.

so why not just call here?

we can chuck it away if UTG was limp-trapping and jams. mostly set-mining, but that's ok.

I disagree w/ you @Oldsilver, let's just fold and wait for a better spot , flat has to be worst option imo.

Doubt he's tight enough as default to make setminimg worthwhile. Not a spot where we should be concerned about board coverage.
Jam or fold is better.

I'm pretty happily jamming here. Kind of odd to say we have no FE jamming 15BB over a 2.5x open especially in a loliveament where the villain may fold something like 99 or AQ face up.

Fold > Shove > Call. wrong price to setmine
