This hand came up yesterday in a 100€ live MTT

15 players left / 10 get paid (min-cash 230€, with 1500€ up top)

blinds 2k/4k/400
tournament average ~65k
7-handed

Hero (74k stack) is in utg+1 and raises to 11.3k with QQ
Folds around to the BB (90k stack), who 3bets to 30k
Hero 4bet shoves
BB calls with AA
Board: K3KJ9

So, having multiple options PF, was it correct to 4bet shove with QQ in this spot? Also, the raise to almost 3x was done to prevent donkey calls with Ax Kx (pretty frequent in this type of MTT and with the players who were at the table)
BB wasn't playing many hands, but capable of 3betting with AQ+, TT+...

Is it better to just flat and look to play some flops with 44k behind on a ~70k pot?
Obv. pretty hard to fold, blinds were high enough (with 20 min levels) to just give it up and wait for better spots.
And most important consideration, winning the hand gives a shot to get 1st with such a structure (min-cashing wasn't a priority)

Thanks!

You have to assume he puts you on a pretty tight range raising almost 3x from utg (unless you have a very loose image), so when he makes a small 3b from the BB that screams strength. The problem with shoving is that he's only going to call with AA/KK/AK.

Since you're starting the hand with almost 20bb, you're not committed if you call the 3b and fold postflop. You'll still have 10bb with the bubble approaching. If you put AK in his 3b range there, those combos make up most of his range so you can call and fold on an A/K flop. On an undercard flop you can check and give him a chance to bluff with his missed AK.

This all depends on whether AK is in his 3-betting range, not to mention whether he might 3b hands like AQ/JJ in that spot. You say he's capable of 3betting AQ/TT+ but you'd need a pretty comfortable read to include those in his range.

Never folding pre for 20BB with QQ.

Tbh in live donkaments I think there's just as much a chance people don't know what stack sizes everyone has than making a definite read that he's "slowplaying" AA.

Fist-pump shoving here for me.
