Recently played a £110 ukpc mini at dusk till dawn. 222 player left from 2438. 209 get paid. Blinds 10k/20k/3k. Hero has 345k. Hero dealt ak off suit utg.
Hero goes all in.
My thinking was that I can't afford to raise, c/bet and fold flop which would put me under pressure close to bubble. I would be calling people who ship over my raise so may as well ship myself.
Is my thinking all wrong here? Does anyone ever fold to 3-bet all in? Fold pre because of awkard stack size? Open to ideas.
Apologies. Should have mentioned, just been moved to a new table so not much information to go on, couple of large stacks but I was probs 7/9 on the table.
If villains are flatting a lot, I'd rather open shove, I doubt anyone is calling light at this stage.
The only downside to this is that it really looks like we have AK.
If I'm feeling short, and that's kind of subjective to your game play and thresholds, I shove here.
If I have a cushion enough to raise 3x or 4x bb, I prefer that.
I think if you start jamming here to reach the bubble, or feel it's the safer play, you are painting yourself into a corner. If reaching the bubble is your priority however, then jamming is probably the play.
If you want to try and accumulate chips, and take a shot at a higher finish, then I'd suggest playing it strong, and try and get a caller to come along.
