66-99 Pre Nightmare continues....

Recently played in live MTT at thunder valley casino in sacramento, ca
Buyin was $500 Entries: 300 Players left: 120

Blinds: 400-800 ante 100

Villians: (UTG) 21.5K
Hero: (MP2) 26.5k

Villian (UTG): He has played most of the hands on the table and won most of his pots.

Villians opens for 1650, I 3bet to 3600 with 66. it folds around to villian and he calls.

Pot Size: 9400

FLOP: Ac As 9d

Villians donks for 5k and Hero raises to 12k, leaving 11k behind and villian thinks for a while and shoves his last 12.5k.

Now its only around 5k more to hero and he is pot committed.

HELP:
Any other way i could have played my 66 with my stack?????

the way the hand played out, I'm considering shoving on top of his donk bet on the flop. folding wouldn't be that bad. But I'd imagine- why would he bet into you if he knows your going to c bet the flop.. but then he could also be trying to play this hand tricky and donk betting into you so you can re raise him and build the pot bigger.

I don't think 66 is a hand I want to be 3betting with in this spot. He is donk betting with big pair , or trips and hoping u will shove over him.

You can fold this hand preflop, and fold on flop as well. Or make bigger 3bet pf (like 4k , 4.2k ) to try to take down pot pf and u can make easier decision on later streets.

Re: 66-99 Pre Nightmare continues....

as a Hero i agree that my preflop bet sizing was on the smaller side.

However, the only reason i raise on the flop is becuz i didnt except villian to donk bet his QQ-KK type hand incase he was slow playing them preflop. he would always chk and control the pot size with QQ,KK.

Felt like villian was protecting his 77-JJ type hand.

3b is bad and fold to donkbet.

Flat might be best live if likely to get multiway pot.

Re: 66-99 Pre Nightmare continues....

You gave the key words yourself in your OP for folding here: He has played most of the hands.

That means he'll probably at least call your 3bet, leaving you in an awkward spot OTF when on average 2-3 overcards to your 6:es will fall. With 25bb this is just a bad hand to play in this spot. I might consider shoving it from the blinds sometimes if he get's a caller, but here I just fold. If I was down to say around 13-14bb I'll shove it. If I can call for max 7-8% of our effective stacks (if we were deeper that is) I call and go for setmining. Otherwise I just fold here.

Remember that many players overvalue small and lower middle pairs when stacks are around say 20-35/40 bb. Better to not be one of them.

3b QTs or something where you hit half the flops. 66 is hard to play.

Also, fold or shove to the donkbet. When he shoves, you are getting 8-1 and maybe a 9-1 dog if he is ahead. If you think you are every ahead, call. Guess some value to keeping your last 5K.

Re: 66-99 Pre Nightmare continues....

For example:
Last 3 mtts $400 buyins with 40mins rounds. i have lost majority of my stack when my M got low and i started forcing things. Thus, i have hard time sizing my bets when running bluffs on flop.
Sucks, when you play tight for over an hour and half and first hand you play, they flat call your 3 bet pre.

1. 150-300 ante 50 Stack 16k M= 16

2. 200-400 ante 75 Stack 23k M= 17

3. 400-800 ante 100 Stack 25.5k M= 11
