$5r AKo facing UTG 4-bet

I thought the small reraise looked strong, especially given villain's position and that he never 3-bet before. Is it wrong to fold AKo in this spot at this buy in level?

    +1

I think a lot of people 3B AK way too often, but I could just be a nit.

OP, you have to have a plan for when you 3b. You can't approach this spot and say oh i thought he woulld only call/fold to my 3bet.

This might be a rare spot where you can 3b/f for value, but if you think he folds worse and jams better then perhaps flatting is more preferable.

I would probably have called a jam but the small reraise made it look like he wanted me to call/reshove. Best case scenario I'm flipping against QQ or maybe up against AQs but most of the time I think he has me crushed. Thoughts?

I hate the idea of 3b/f AK, as played I'd probably 5b jam and hope to see AK/QQ. But I think flatting may be better pre.

I shove now and would question my first preflop decision big time.

What his 4B means is super villain dependent, so we're in a really rough spot since you only have 56 hands on him.

But I agree with Greg. Why did you 3B? What do you think his opening range was, and what were you trying to do? Fold out mid pairs? Get calls from worse A's?

Personally, when we're playing almost 40BBs effective, I don't think we want to be fist-pump getting it in with AKo. And when we 3B, we just contort villain's range in a way that's really terrible for us. As in, he continues with better (big pairs) and folds out worse (garbage, weaker A's, etc.)

We have a deep enough stack to flat and play poker here, IMO.

Flat pre. Good stuff can happen from the remaining stacks as well.
