$55 6 max river spot with str8 on paired board

Villain is a supernova, running 20/14 on 500 hands.
What do we do OTR??
Thoughts on other streets appreciated.

I actually don't hate checking and hoping a missed flushdraw spazzes out. I'm not really sure anything will call if you shove.

Re: $55 6 max river spot with str8 on paired board

If that was in response to me I am definitely c/c. The whole point of the check is hoping someone goes temporarily insane with one of the missed draws.

However, I could be talked into b/f like half pot would be a better play.

u think we get paid off here by worse?
I kinda doubt that, so I actually prefer c/c.

OP when u say villian is supernova, which one do u mean?

the problem with checking otr is that we are basically never checking to c/f once we take the line op took. our range consists of strong made hands only and villain will prolly realize this and play perfectly otr which means that he will rarely bluff and vbet everything better than what we have. i just dont think that people are going make hero fold a str8 here just because the board pairs otr. also villains range consists of so many showdown hands (overpairs) that he will always snap check back when we check to him otr.
i really do prefer betting for those reasons but im not really sure how much id bet.

Utg could still have an over pair or an 8 that will pay us off. I like betting river.

i dont think checking turn is a good idea considering 2 possible flush draws + a possible draw to a better straight. lots of hands that we have beat on the turn will be calling so i dont think theres a need to check to get an opponent to bet.
