Hey guys, this hand was played during the late stage of a live tournament. 96 players entered the tournament and 13 players were left. Last two tables and at my table there were 7 players. My image was TAG and they knew I am capable of making moves. Villain said a few hands before "You play like a Scandinavian"...
Blinds 3000/6000, ante 600
Hero (~35bb) was dealt 44 at the button. Villain (~65bb, hj) was a regular but sometimes got out of line. The blinds had like 25-30 bbs.
Villain openraised to 16.2k, Hero call with 44, SB call, BB fold.
Flop 7h5s8d, Villain bet 40k, Hero call, SB fold.
Turn 5c, Villain check, Hero ?
Imo I played this hand preflop pretty bad, should have folded or 3bet pre. Any suggestions?

PF: Ok with the call IP here for ~2.6bb, we have plenty of room to work with post. I think this is the street you played fine.
Flop: V is super polarized here with his bet sizing, and has air or an overpair/set. The problem for you is his air is still very live against you. This is a clear fold imo.
Turn: Now that we got here, check and hope to see showdown cheap or spike the river.
Also - assuming the money was just hit or bubble is approaching here. ICM considerations really come into play with this hand as well.
