I'll try to make this short. I'm 2nd in chips, and the chip leader is at my table but not involved.

I'm in the LoJack with KQ open my 190k stack for a min to 10k. Button calls with 170k, BB completes for 5k.
FLOP
K T 5
BB Checks, and as I'm diving a stack of chips for a bet, the BTN moves AI. The dealer says 'time, there's a player yet to act'. I now decide to check to allow the BTN to be AI. The BTN now states 'Check' and the floor is called who agree without action, he must abide to his AI. BB folds, I call now knowing I have the best hand after he wanted to change his mind.

He tables J2 for bare FD. He catches runner runner 2pair, for KT5 2 J
I bust 33rd where 30 pay. Did I get punished for a reason? I think I should have overbet to setup an AI on the turn, knowing he is at least going to call anything on the flop, around 60k. I feel like I got punished.

Dividing not diving, idk where the edit post is. He (the BTN) saw me counting out a bet for the flop, and threw out his AI seat card before the action was on him. Is it clear now?

"Did I get punished for a reason?"

Unless we want to get into a philosophical discussion and greater beings I don't know what to tell you. I believe in basic statistics. You should be overjoyed at what he was as forced to call your all in with.
