also, slightly off topic, does it make sense to call 2 if ur backed(unlimited br), but fold on ur own(limited br).

we're folding 2 because of icm, making the money 99% of the time instead of 58% of the time (assuming he ships atc) is a very big difference.

hand 1 i want to fold because of who shoved first, he's a giant nit, normally i'd call 77 vs that stack shoving.

You should be making the play with the greatest $EV and if the money is important to you on your own BR you probably shouldn't be playing this buyin then if you aren't gonna try to play optimally

1 is a close fold
2 is an easy ICM fold

what i mean is that in a spot like hand 2, when its obviously very close, i think that people who are playing on their own are very likely to fold, while players in makeup are going to call because its +cev and u need chips to win tournaments.

i was going to fold hand 1 to the original shove and was getting ready to save the HH to post, then AF shoved and i thought it might make some sort of difference.

ICM doesn't depend on your bankroll, so being on your own or backed makes no difference. You should be trying to maximize the $ you make, not the # of tournaments you win weather on your own roll or a backers, and ICM is the best way we have to determine our actual $EV. It is a common myth that ICM can be ignored if you have an infinite bankroll.

Probably, though I'm not as certain. When we're not on the bubble, button's range is probably tighter, which means our overall equity is lower. I'm not sure how much lower because I haven't run a range through pokerstove yet.

A6o is an ez and easily +cEV call vs any competent shover.
