Re: $11 6k - Pre spot with 55

I gave Villain ~32% with a 6.3% calling range {77+,AJs, AQo}
That means 80% of the time he folds and we win the 600 uncontested, the other 20% of the time we lose 1132 given our equity when he calls

I think the answer is:
80%(600) - 20%(1132) = 253 or ~1.7BBs.
Can someone tell me if that's right?

no thats not right, when i get home i'll correct it. Also, you need to account for the times the BB wakes up with a hand

Id rather fold than call and setmine oop...
Preante it's close, I could find a fold yes, but I could also find some balls and shove this.

Re: $11 6k - Pre spot with 55

He needs to fold about 70% of the time for a jam to break even. I think your calling range is good but kind of a tough spot without a decent idea of his opening range. I'd probably fold readless and jam if I thought he could be opening a decent amount here.

Re: $11 6k - Pre spot with 55

At first I was thinking about just smooth calling and mining for the set, but there are a ton of flops that would not be in your favor and he would most likely gain control of the hand. For the same reason, I do not like a 3 bet. This is a tricky spot, but I am going to go with a shove. Villain being on the button, I dont think he is too terribly strong, I dont think he has AA,KK, etc, and is probably just playing the posistion.

70 isn't a lot. And the rest were flipping.

I'm in Cborders boat here. Especially if our edge against the table is fairly big, which I would assume it would be.

We don't know if 70% is a lot or not for this guy because he's an unknown and we have no history with him. Even if we were 100% confident that he was folding 70%, that wouldn't make jamming good because 70% is the break even point, and we're not looking to make break even plays. I don't think some random villain in an $11fo is opening so wide that we can assume jamming is best.

It's also interesting that so many are advocating a jam here, but if hero had ~35bb with an ante in play they'd crucify you for suggesting a jam even though they are effectively the same thing.
