$300 Live MTT, early stages 20k chip stack average.

Folds to cutoff who limps for 200.

Hero on button with 6d 7d calls.

Both blinds call.

SB very weak player. Has previously seen him call flop and turn bets out of position with no draws and bottom pair. He folded on the river bet but I know what he had as I had seen his cards. Has repeatedly shown me his hole cards by carelessly looking at them pre-flop.

On this had I know he has a 4s - did not see his second card.

Flop comes Jd Qc 4h. SB (the weak player) bets 300 with 20k behind. Everyone folds to hero on BTN.

I suspect he could be doing this with his pair of fours (he has done similar moves previously). But I don't know his second card.

I should not bluff a fish, but I decide to raise to 1500. By mistake I raise to 6000 (1000 + 5000). I have 14k left behind.

SB thinks for a while, then calls.

Turn 8c. Check check.

River Jh. SB checks.

There is 12800 in the pot. We both have about 14000 left.

How do you play this?

I don't see him good enough to check to induce a bet.

Also I know he got into tourney by satellite.

I know hand was played poorly up to this point! What do you do as played?

For the record I was not going out of my way to see his cards. I realise that it is not a great situation to be in with some ethical considerations (seeing his card), but I was not 'trying' to see them he was just flashing them my direction (by carelessness).

i like the flat pre but people will say to raise. flat flop and play turn is my play but raise to 1500 and planning on 3barrel shoving alot of rivers may be best knowing hes got a 4 here. when he calls your mistake bet im not thinking hes got 2 pair+ often but when he bet/calls 300-6000 i also think hes not folding until he sees river, so i like your turn chk and shove now

Maybe fold to flop bet. You know he is a station. The guy called the accidental huge overbet. Plus how do you know his other card isn't a 4?

Fold could be best but i doubt it. To the 3rd sentence, way to use r oriented thinking. To the last, common sense/his actions in the hand

take your medicine. sh*t happens occasionally and i've learnt from bitter experience that the hail mary jam isn't +EV.

just say 'i have T9 and misclicked, nh' and muck your cards.
there is no way on god's green earth that he's going to fold after calling 6K otf.

Thanks for the comments.

In retrospect I think the best move would've been to give up as villain was not going to fold bottom pair after calling that initial 6k bet.

Instead of pushing I actually bet another 6k after his check on the river. After 1-2 minutes he called, I mucked.

Moral of story might be to announce bets verbally.. As had I said 1500 I would've avoided this whole mess!

announcing bets verbally is an interesting one. i do it, but you need to be aware it gives another major piece of info (vocal tone, announce to dealer or opponent, hesitation/confidence in voice) to your opponents. but...you can manipulate that info any way you please. nuff said.

FPS and the river bet is literally lighting chips on fire after the turn check
