Day 2 of Main. Table has been pretty good, tight pre / passive post- no one especially aggressive except villain and to a lesser extent, hero. Villain came to table with biggest stack at the table (started Day 2 with about 215K); had initially got stack up to about 275K but table has adjusted. Two relevant hands with villain; first where Hero Opened QQs, checked back a K high flop, and called down turn, and river and was good and second where hero opened A9s, flopped nothing, cont bet, and folded to a raise from villain on a low card board. Hero has made some other hands to this point and has been paid off plus has been able to get passive players to fold post a bunch; has built stack up to about $250K, probably 2x next closest. Hero is mid 40s and owner of wide brim sun hat though not currently wearing on Day 2 (significant in future days); villain probably mid to late 30s of eastern European descent.

Blinds- 600/1200 200a
Villain- 115K
Hero- 250K

Hero opens MP with KQdd to 2500. Villain calls from the button, SB folds, BB completes.

Flop (10.5K) 9d, 5d, 4c

BB checks, Hero bets 3500, Villain raises to 9500, BB folds, Hero Calls. In this spot on this board I do not expect villain to fold to one bet and plan on barreling lots of turns / rivers

Turn (29.5K) Kc

Hero checks, Villain bets 22K, Hero calls

River (78K) 4s

Hero checks, Villain jams after about 10s (about 80K effective), Hero calls

Pre is fine. Think c-betting or check are both fine on the flop, as long as we're picking out some flush draws to have as check-calls. Obviously calling the flop raise.

I think if check-calling turn is fine if we're prepared to call down on blank rivers. The big issue is that having KdQd we block our opponents most likely bluff combos, although I guess our opponent can still have some diamond draws plus 76 for sure.

As played, the question is whether we have to call with more than just boats here. It would obviously be better if we had AK or KQ without diamonds, but based on the previous action that's unlikely. I think having AKdd would be worse in some ways because at least now our opponent can still have their complement of suited Ax plus hands like JTdd, 87dd, etc. If we have some live read that our opponent is super strong we can fold, but as a general rule I'm sigh calling.

It would suck if V had exactly A4dd.

river call seems fine given HH with villain

unlucky to run into sets on the flop.. A4dd would be ultra sick

I cant see any problam with how you played the hand.
The river is hard decison.
What do you think about the next thought...
The way V played he might have 4-5 h.
You had k i dont know if its enough to call when yyour ME life on line unless you had read on V that he bet for bluff.

I think I am more likely to fold the river than to call. Not many villains 3 barrel bluff for their tournament life.
