Closing in on the end of Day 1 of a 2 day tourney. Blinds are 1500/3000, 500 ante, hero has 118k. Hero looks down and sees JJ UTG and opens to 8000. Folds to hiJack who shoves for 61k, BTN thinks for a couple seconds and reshoves for 75k. Folds back to Hero

Depends if BTN shoves TT or not. If not, snap fold. Otherwise its close, probably fold.

Super close. Need to be about 31% for a call to be profitable, and if HJ is shoving ~10% and BTN's reshove range here is JJ+/AK, we're probably about 30%. If you think button is capable of calling off with AQs and TT then it's a call, so this is really a villain dependent spot.

I'd probably lean fold in a small-to-mid-stakes tournament unless I knew the villain was capable of reshoving wider, but don't think a call is terrible.

Agree. Def calling AK and QQ+, def folding TT without a really good read someone is spewing, JJ is on the border. Previous play by villains and physical reads would determine call/fold here IMO.

Thanks for the responses...it took me a little while at the table because I thought it was close as well. Agree that 10's would be a fold, and QQ would be an insta-call

I made the call, and they both tabled AK, and my JJ held for the double knock out

It depends a bit on if there are multiple day 1s and this isn't the last day 1. Some players gamble towards the end hoping to build a big stack or bust because they can always fire another bullet tomorrow.

I fold JJ/AQ and call QQ+,AK here.

If I have some loose reads on either will proly make the call seeing if we lose we still have 50k and 15bb.
