This hand happened a while back while playing on my phone on a bus

14 left. I do not remember the EXACT details but I'll try my best.

I am sitting in 11th place with 400k. I think the blinds were 15-30k with ante. I am sitting in the BB. The current tourney chipleader has a MASSSSSIVE chiplead, where actually only the top 3 or 4 players are above average. Currently I am guaranteed $750 or so. 10-12th get $1k or so. Winner gets $22.5k or so.

It folds around to the HJ (unknown - wasn't very active up to now) who shoves his 220k stack all-in. The CO (who is a reg) thinks for a couple of seconds and shoves as well (280k). BTN folds, SB folds.

I have A8o in BB. What do you do?

Found myself in a similar spot this morning in a live tournament in Florida.. Personally I think folding here is the better play and wait for a better spot without two shoves before you. Our hand could easily be dominated by either stack. I would probably be more inclined to call with against one stack that was shorter though. What did you end up doing?

Looks like a fold to me.

I thought that the first guy is getting desperate and the reg knows this and would therefore shove a wider range that includes QJ+.

Remember, the table is 7-handed and the blinds are eating us up quickly. Also, I hadn't seen a hand in a while which might be clogging my mind a little in this particular hand.

Fold. What are you really hoping for? Even if the both jams are light, you still sill never have that much equity in a 3 way all in. Especially with ICM considerations, I think this is a fold forsure.

Even though late pos shoves im folding here and move on til next with still a respectable 12 or so BB's.

A8 against two shoves doesnt look to hot to me and down at this late stage with the money jumps coming into play i would fold.

It's a fold.

I'm guessing they turned up QT & KQ?

I ended up folding. First guy turned over KJo and the reg turned over AQo.

I still felt like I should've called and even though this one hand ended up being the correct fold, I was simply wondering that maybe on AVERAGE the correct play would have been to call? It also could be that I've played too much lately and my mind is getting clogged and I simply need a break from the game.

Anyway, in a later hand, I had about 7 BBs left with 11 players remaining (6 on my table) and I was utg+1. UTG shoved all-in for 9 BBs. I had 88. What is the correct play here? Call or fold? Do people usually avoid coin-flips when the pay-jumps coming up are so big or do you call here because you could easily be up vs 3-over-cards or a smaller pair even? Obviously if the first guy didn't shove, I would shove, but once he does shove, do you call here or wait for the next hand and shove almost anything and try to pick the blinds and antes instead?

Now this is more questionable and depends on the players tendancies, although IMO we have to shove in this spot here. UTG is shoving here very light as the blinds are on him next hand.. His range is super wide. any A rag,, any k rag sooted, sooted connectors even.

The blinds are almost upon us also and we simply cant sit and wait for a hand pocket 8s in this spot im loving life(but the shove by UTG hurts a bit we have to snap shove and hope the poker gods are with us and he doesnt hit his A rag or something AND hope that no other player wakes up with the goods).

If im sitting with aq OTB with two shoves prior before me im thinking it doesnt look too good with the action that took place. Again depends what your table image is and the UTG's image.

A8 is a lot weaker than 88. 2 opponents is a lot more than one opponent. These spots aren't comparable, with ICM considerations A8 is pretty easy fold in the first situation while 88 is relatively easy allin in the second.

It would be lot more interesting if we had 88 in the first situation or A8 in the second.

a8o is just a fold sure u could be flipping with a lot of his range but u can also be dominated if your a reg I'd strongly suggest getting icmenizer so helpful in these type of situations

AJs/AQ/88 or something is what feels right intuitively, pokerstove or whatever the kids use in 2015 is perfect for reviewing these type of spots, A8o isn't close
