It's been a long time since I've posted a hand and don't really play much anymore. Just a few tournaments a year at the CPC and WSOP circuit events. This is the $360 at the Horseshoe Hammond.

I was moved to the table about an orbit earlier and haven't seen anything crazy. A few local regulars at the table. MP is mid 20s local and BB is middle age local that might play on the more aggressive side.

Blinds are 250/500 - 50 ante. I raise UTG+1 to 1200 with KK. MP calls. BB calls. J82r flop. BB checks, I bet 2200, MP shoves for 6K, then BB shoves all in. BB had 40K and the chip leader at the table. I had 20K and 3rd in chips at the table with 10K starting stacks. What range would you put both the MP and BB? Call or fold?

Lacking some soulread, I am calling. Hard to give BB a 2p+ range, so I'm not folding.

Tough spot. A couple interesting things going on here.

MP flats with 12 BBs behind which indicates he's probably not a super skilled player. I would put him on a pretty wide range including a bunch of stuff that doesn't make sense like 99.

BB should have J8, 86 and a bunch of JT-AJ hands. There's a bit of a potential leveling to his shove, where default is to shove all his 2 pair or worse hands and call with sets, but maybe he gets tricky and shoves sets if he knows you know that. Since he's an unknown reg at the horseshoe, I assume there's no trickery going on here. So I think that makes KK a call.

If CL hit a set on this flop, shoving over a shove is terri-bad. I would greatly discount sets in favor of pocket pairs/AJ type of hands.

I call pretty quickly and expect to hold here.

Early chip leaders at these $360s are rarely the uber talented players... may times they are donks that outdrew a better player for a huge pot when they didn't have odds to chase. So I discount those players a little bit.

I also don't think he's re-jamming over the top with an absolute monster like a set. His range is pretty narrowly defined to AJ/KJ/QQ or two pair. If that's his range then it's a mathematically equitable play to call all-in. It's a high-variance play, though, and probably 40-60% of the time you're going to get the boot. The rest of the time, though, you're going to have a huge chip lead on the table and will be cruising to the money.

My thought process was that MP would have at least 99, TT, or J10+. I'd assume he'd flat 22 and 88, and probably shove JJ pf. He barely has any fold equity with his shove given my cbet so I assume he has air nearly 0% of the time. Given that, I thought BB must have J8,JK,AJ, or any set. With the leveling, I'd assume he would shove sets thinking I would call lighter given that he's isolating MP.
