I feel like I butchered this hand at every decision point on Sunday and it’s still haunting me.

Online tourney, 7 left
$5k for 1st … $800 for 7th ... Blinds 1500/3000 ... everyone @ table 30+bb (15 min blinds)

Villian (200k) UTG+1 raises to 6800 (No reads other than he was fairly active)
Hero (90k) in SB with AdKs …. Raises to 18500 - (Spot A)
Villian calls $18500.

Flop – Qc 7d 2c

Hero continues for 19,500 (Spot B)
Villian calls 19500

Turn – Qc 7d 2c 5s

Hero checks??? – (Spot C)
Villian bets 63k pushing me all-in
Hero feels dirty and abused but can’t call off 20bb with ace high because he’s a giant weeny.
Hero tank folds??? (Spot D)

Did I play any of these four spots correctly?

(A) I’m not very good playing OOP. Is this always a 3-bet spot OOP with 30 bb? Do we ever just ship it? I knew right away that this was going to be an awkward hand if I miss the flop. This is a hole in my game.
(B) Do we continue barreling almost all the time with a premium hand? Even if we miss flop?
(C) This is SO WEAK!!! Basically giving him the green light to shove and push me off the hand. He still would have had 100k if he ships and loses the bluff. Super prime bluff spot for him, I think. Should I have just shoved here and repped AQ/KK/AA?
(D) Is this just a puke fold every time? There was ~100k in the pot. I only have to be right with ace high 1/3rd of the time. Something struck me when he shoved that he was solely pushing me around and I was being abused. But I still had 20bb left and the table was soft so I folded it. Then, of course, I busted JJ<QQ AIPF three hands later. But whatever.

A. You can either flat or 3bet much bigger to something like 22-23K if not even larger than that.
B. Cbet is good/fine, probably can continue on turns that give us additional equity.

C. I don't mind the check, its an awkward SPR.

D. Ya I think fold is good, doubt we are ahead.

I am shipping this. It just sucks too much being OOP. 30 bbs is perfectly reasonable to jam. Folding after a cbet is a huge chunk of your stack. Your chips are worth so much more $wise due to ICM.

As played I would 3bet a lot bigger in the SB. An amount where he can either shove on you or fold. Him flatting your 3bet makes every play post flop uncomfortable. You checking 2 times in a row if you don't hit sucks(what will happen most of the time). Cbetting and folding after you slow down is even worse.

I wouldn't call his jam on the turn with A high. It sucks really really hard but you still have a decent stack to play with.

How do we feel about 3-betting to ~24k and shoving any flop? (Except like JT9hhh)

Not sure. But honestly I think that is not big enough either. The pot will be around 50k OTF. Hero's stack will be 66k. Are we really going to shove our better hand for more than the pot? I think he should it make like 29/30k for a better STP ratio.

The point here is. Will he shove worse hands like AQ or AJ if we do this? Will he shove wider with his pocket pairs(where we don't want to flip against). While I think more about it. It probably depends on his villain. If he is capable of 4bet shoving 99- we probably should just shove preflop.

But if he is tighter. By making such a 3bet move. He will be more likely to fold hands like TT and JJ than if we would 3bet shove. What are your thoughts on this?

I agree ... I think if I'm in this situation again with 25-30 bb I'm just going to ship pre and take it down. Much better than getting outplayed post-flop. It's just too awkward of stack sizes to play.

3 bet around 25 ~ 27k, if he calls you have a pot sized bet remaining and can jam any flop being first to act.

I think giving up flop seems fine? He prob has quite a few AQ/KQ kind of hands, and you're probably not getting medium PPs to fold to a single cbet. The hands that you get to fold are basically AJ/AT kind of hands and some hands such as KJs/JTs. Problem is he likely floats SCs with BDFD and BDSD on the flop. He also might not bluff 100% of the time if you check, especially if he has like AJ/AT. This obv changes vs looser regs though as they'll have more hands to fold.
