NYC Games? NYC Games?

I've been out of the live poker scene in NYC for a while and I'd like to change that. I'm looking for a low key game run by someone who has a history in the community, not someone with >100 posts and a relatively new account. There also seem to be some facebook and meetup.com groups that advertise pretty openly, but I'm thinking I probably shouldn't trust that. Anyways, if you can help me out or even point me in the right direction, please PM me. Thanks.

Also interested in games in NYC, particularly ones that don't rake an arm and a leg. Your PMs are welcome.

Ditto to this.

I Have been to 3 in the past week, one that's regular for me. I can give out two of the locations if you PM me. Rake is real bad at both though.

What would "good" rake be? The two I said are ridic are 10% up to 25 max (serious) and 10% up to 10 max. Seems huge to me. 10 not terrible though I guess.

Prolly just gotta look. I'll do some more looking when school slows down here or maybe one night when I get some time + remember to do it. If I ever get any e-mails back from games or whatever I'll post the good ones here. Gonna ask about rake before I go, $20+ rake is ridiculous for a 2/5 game even though it plays like a 5/10nl or 10/20nl game.

Just a reminder - forum rules prohibit listing of:
  • Raked games (outside of the Non-Trad thread)
  • Games that you do not host

If you want to discuss those topics, please do it in PM. Better yet, start an unraked home game and keep the rake in your pocket.

+1, PM is fine as well.

Seems there might be enough people looking for a game in this thread to set something up without rake?

I'm on the UES, not traveling to LI, would consider parts of Queens/BK though if it is easy enough to get to.

I would stay away from Felted Poker and the St. Mark's game. They were recently raided by the NYPD.

st marks moved to Houston St.
Good spot, I think.
Felted is safe, at least.
Not sure about the integrity of their dealers.

This thread is for finding or advertising unraked NYC-area home games. Let's not turn it into a discussion about the state of local club games, please.

do you live in NYC?

we have a poker league that's hosted in player's homes.

we use a simple point system, have quarterly freerolls, and about 50 regulars.

league games almost everyday of the week.

this is not a cardroom, we don't charge rake or any fee..again all games are played in our homes.

we have a website where all games and results are posted for all to see...complete transparency so no collusion.

buy-ins are $30-$40 so it's affordable for anyone. we have retirees, working people, and students.

come play in a safe environment and have some fun.

check out the website...www.bigapplehomepoker.com

if interested shoot me a PM

I'm hoping to find some more guys that are interested in playing 20/40 and up LHE and/or a MIX. I have a location to host on Thursday nights in Midtown.

Feel free to PM me. References will be required and provided.

UNRAKED.

Just moved to Brooklyn and am looking for a game in the Park Slope area. A traditional home game would be best, but at this point, I'd just like to play in a game somewhat nearby. Please PM me if you have any info on a game. I'd also be interested in games near F train stops in Manhattan.

If you guys took about 10 minutes to do some research on the internet, you could find your way to about 3 games 1/2 1/3 and 1/3 with little to no effort. Then you could ask people at those shanty towns where better action is and so forth.

This is how I built my solid list of SAFE games in NYC since I was 18.

You have to start out in shanty town in some of the less safe situations like St. Marks (now moved) to find your way into the nice and comfy loft or apartment style games. I live so close to some of this great action, but I have been present during several raids and am not interested in games that bring that attention anymore; nothing happened to me any time whatsoever - it's just not worth my time or the feeling of looking over my shoulder at who's on the camera or at the door.

This is probably all of the permitted advise I can give you. I just got dropped off beautifully soft 1/2 in Queens at my place in Manhattan; time for breakfast.

Are there any home games in manhattan that are non-holdem or mixed? Ideally...does anyone host up badugi or triple draw kind of games, for stakes around or below $15-30? Thanks in advance.
