From the Capitol webserver...mostly the same information, but some may already have an account and be tracking other introduced legislation

https://capitol.texas.gov/BillLookup...6R&Bill=HB2669

Also, a similar Bill in the Senate: https://capitol.texas.gov/BillLookup...86R&Bill=SB889

Any thoughts on the prospects for these bills?

That link doesn't work. I assume you meant this:

https://www.socialcardclubsoftexas.org

Looks like an interesting organization but I didn't see any reference to legislation.

The last 2 times I went they didn’t have valet. Park wherever you like.

I've not spent much time looking at them...key will be where they go in terms of daily calendars across the next month. If there is no real movement by the end of April, then I don't see it getting a vote in both chambers before Sine Die.

Texas Card House (Austin) just announced that they're going to open a location in North Houston in May - https://texascardhouse.com/nhouston/

TCH has always been my favorite of the new Texas rooms, having been to a couple of places in Austin and a few in SA. Houston is so spread out, it seems like it would be difficult to really take over the market, but if they can beat the Prime $15/hr rate and replicate their standards from the Austin room, they could really build something high volume that would be awesome for Houston players.

Seems kind of vague, says North Houston, Spring, Woodlands but no exact place, guess there still looking.

You mention beating the $15/hour rake at Prime, what the TCH rake in Austin?

1. They are opening up in Spring. Will have absolutely no effect at all on Prime.

2. Bill Heuer is involved based on his FB post from yesterday.

Agree with your first point, was going to mention the same.

It would be nice though if a big room opens that has a less than $15/hr rake.

Does Prime take out anything in addition to the 15/hour?

It's generally $10/hr for lower limits, and $13/hr for private room/high limits (5/10+?). They also charge a $10 daily or $30/month fee, and I believe there is still always a $2 "seat rental" fee regardless of if you are a monthly/yearly member.

There’s a $10 entry fee, believe at least during the week if you get there before 4pm they waive the entry fee.

Also think there’s a 15 registration.

Here are Prime's rates:

First visit - $15 to get your membership card.

Daily - $10, but Monday-Friday if you arrive before 4:00 pm it is waived.

Hourly - $16 an hour.

They then give rake back based on hours played the prior week - Sunday-Saturday(midnight)

10-19 hours - $20 of free time on card
20-29 hours - $50 of free time on card
30-39 hours - $100 of free time on card
40-49 hours - $150 of free time on card
50-59 hours - $200 of free time on card
60+ hours - $300 of free time on card

Theoretically if you play 10 hours a week at $16 an hour and get the $20 credit that would bring your actual charge down to $14 an hour.

If you played exactly 20 hours a week at $16 an hour and get the $50 credit you would bring your actual charge down to $13.50 an hour.

With a name like Da Nit I have confidence you can work the system to your advantage

Yeah like half my questions on here have been related to finding cheaper time rake, I certainly live up to my name.

Very odd news. The owner of the Poker Club at West Houston passed away this morning.

Good to see more potential options on the north side of town. There is a fair number of players who don't want to have to spend forever driving to play. For those who work downtown but live north, being able to stop off somewhere that is more or less on the way home is a good thing...

What makes it odd? Is there a suspicious component to the death?

The rooms that have opened and failed in north Houston were not bad, it honestly just doesn't feel like the demand is there for some reason.

No, apparently nothing suspicious about it just very surprising. No details yet other than he was pronounced dead 30 minutes after the call for EMS. I guess maybe a heart issue.
