There have been multiple robberies/shootings (One fatal last September) in the area. Typically the rake sucks and it may be unbeatable at most underground rooms.

I wouldn't bother if I was you; this is why we have the internets.

Uh, there are plenty of reputable home games in the Houston area. You can play pretty much any night of the week without playing at one of these underground rooms. Some aren't raked either.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind some info on games in Houston.

And as far as XD's link..... if you actually live in Houston, I'm sure you know that that's not an area you would feel that comfortable in at night, no matter what you were doing.....

I am commuting between California and Houston and would also like to play in some good home games here in Houston. Currently located downtown - would appreciate anyone that sends info. Given the number of folks on this board who have expressed interest, maybe we should get a 2+2 game together!

All games must state they have no rake or fee. If there is a rake or fee, post in the non-traditional game sticky thread.

We have a group that plays in the Clear Lake/ Pasadena/Pearland area. There is almost always at least one game and sometimes 2 every weekend. All games are rake free and play 1/1 or sometimes 1/2. PM me or post contact info for more.

My psychic powers tell me this thread as well as others from other cities across the country without B&M casinos/card rooms is going to become a lot more popular after the DOJ events from yesterday.

It is a shame that the US is so behind the curve when it comes to internet poker. What happened to the free market principles this country was built on? Lets hope the slow decay of capitalism does not become the new worldwide trend.

Especially after Black Friday's events, anyone interested in organizing a home game for next weekend in Houston? I am downtown but am open as to location. Not a rake game, but either NLHE or a mixed game would work for me - prefer 2+2'ers who have a posting history but let me know. PM is fine.

Went to Lake Charles a few weeks back and played 2/5 NL. Was ok but it's 2 hours each way ...
